Hello everyone! It is Tammy here with you today with more inspiration featuring Petaloo and Simple Stories Homespun collection. Today I am sharing a cute little canvas decor piece that is full of dimension and is so easy to make!
Let me show you how!
Begin by trimming the black Home Simple Stories Insta-Squres so that it will fit on top of the blue scallop Insta-Square. Paint the piece two coats of Picket Fence Distress Paint. After the paint is dry, sand over the surface. Sanding will smooth out any bumping paint lines and help create a chalky look. Ink the edges of the piece with Vintage Photo Distress Ink using an ink blending tool.
Cut a piece of scrap mat or chipboard to the same size as the Home piece. Trace the letter shapes onto the mat board. Use a craft knife to cut out the letters. This mat board piece will add structure and stability to the back of the die cut Home piece so that it can be used to create a shadow box effect.
Mist the mat board with Black Marble Dylusions Spray Ink. Although the front will be covered, misting will cover the inside and outside edges so that they aren't showing white. Dry the mat board piece well with a heat tool.
Apply adhesive to the back of the Home piece. Adhere the piece to the matching mat board piece, lining up the edges and letter openings.
Use an ink blending tool to apply Vintage Photo Distress Ink to the edges of the teal scallop Insta-Square. Cut or tear a square of plain muslin and a piece of cotton batting (apx. 2x2). Sew the two pieces together. Adhere the fabric piece at an angle on the teal Insta-Square under the area where the heart on the Home piece will be. If you want add a hint of color to the muslin, you can brush it lightly with the desired color of Distress Ink using an ink blending tool.
Adhere a scrap of mat board to the back of the teal scallop Insta-Square. Place strong adhesive on the back of the mat board for adhering to the canvas later.
Place adhesive foam squares on the back of the Home piece.
Center and adhere the Home piece to the top of the teal scallop Insta-Square.
Adhere the assembled piece to the front of a canvas. (Shown- Tim Holtz Burlap Panel.) Adhere a small Bits & Pieces heart to the fabric in the heart opening. Place a sentiment sticker over the heart opening.
Snip apart the petals on flowers from the Moss Green Textured Layers set. Use an ink blending tool to apply Vintage Photo Distress Stain to the edges.
Layer a woven petal and a solid petal togeher. Use a Tiny Attacher to staple them together. use the green petal layers like leaves.
Adhere the leaves you created under the lower left corner of the Home piece.
Adhere a small Amber Textured Blossom in the bottom of the H opening.
Fill in around the flower with additional leaves, small ivory Mini Blossoms, and Botanica Berries. Tie the end of a piece of thread to the small Love sticker tag. Place a piece of adhesive foam tape on the back of the sticker to hold it in place in your flower cluster. Weave the thread throughout the flower cluster. Add a die cut file tab from the Bits & Pieces collection under the edge of the Home piece at the top of the flower cluster.
Pin the needle and thread into the fabric in the heart opening under the sentiment sticker.
I really love the way this piece came together. I love the shadow box like effect of the die cut Home piece. I hope you will give the project a try too! It will make a great little accent piece for any decor!
