What fun I had making this little scene here to celebrate Father's Day for my husband.  He's a real grease monkey as his hobby is building streetrods.  Now, the best thing about that is he can NEVER say a word about my scrappy spending habits because building streetrods is way more expensive!

So, I borrowed that cut little vintage gas tank from his miniature car collection and using a Canvas Corp 6 x 6 canvas; I "parked" an old car in a field of Petaloo blooms beside the tank!  The first step in creating my canvas was to paint the canvas with a thick coat of white gesso so that my mist and masking would be easier to apply.    After the gesso dried, I misted the canvas with both silver and suede Glimmer Mist.  Next came some stenciled on bricks.  Then the fun part, dying the flowers, adding the photo and the fun embellishments.

 

All the flowers I used are Petaloo DIY meaning that they are made especially for coloring as they all come white.  I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to color them in fun shades of silver and red. These flowers are so easy to color and it's great that you can perfectly match your blooms to your project!

 

Canvas Corp makes a fun Paper Banner Kit and I used that to create my banner that I covered with Canvas Corp burlap.  Then I topped off each banner with strips of Canvas Corp paper and heat embossed gears.  I spelled out the name using Tattered Angels High Impact Paint. and sme really old foam stamps.  That is great paint, it worked great on the burlap.

Inspirational Cube by Lynne Forsythe

Hi Petaloo Fans!!

Spring is in the air even
if there is a possible impending snow storm.
We've had a pretty mild Winter for Northern NH...
but it's now time for the grass to be green
and the flowers to be blooming!

I wanted to share with you on
of my recent creations...
An "Inspirational Cube"

I began with a 3" x 3" wooden cube,
which I painted and then
 covered with papers from 
Graphic 45's Mon Amour Collection.
I also wrapped it with a piece of 
Petaloo's Fancy Trim.

I pulled out a piece of wire mesh to build
my flower cluster on.

Have you seen Petaloo's Calla Lilies
so soft and beautiful?
I accented the floral cluster with the
corresponding berry pick.

I colored a few DIY Mixed Leaves
and DIY Rosebuds
and topped it off with a
Vintage Velvet Mini.

Now, I couldn't call it an
"Inspirational Cube" 
without a quote...
one of my FAVORITES!

This past weekend I had the opportunity to head
to the "real world" and shop for "backgrounds"
to create on.

PERFECT!!

I cut 3 various size hearts
one from Canvas Corp Brands ~ Burlap
and two different papers from 
G45's Mon Amour Collection
Heart's Desire and
True Love.

I distressed the edges of the 3 layers
and adhered to my wooden plaque
with Ranger's Multi Medium ~ Matte.

I then pulled out a bunch of
various Petaloo blooms!

Mini Pearl Daisies

I colored the edges of the Burlap Blossom
with a mixture of
Tattered Angels ~ Glimmer Mist
to match the other blossoms and papers.

Upcycled TP Roll Wreath with Petals Burlap Flowers

Hey everyone, I know these TP roll crafts have been around forever and as I was cleaning out my craft realized I had saved a bunch of them at one time- I just couldn't toss them into the recycle bin so decided to make a little wreath. I made two for you- one an everyday decor piece and the other is for Halloween. They are super fun and easy to make- so here is a little Snapguide to guide you through making your own.

Another year....Another pumpkin!

Hello Petaloo Fans.....
I can't hardly believe it....
School has begun and
Labor Day has come and gone
and here in the North Country 
that means summer is over.

I LOVE FALL....
the season of color!
(and there are a few trees
already showing their colors)

Every year I create a pumpkin...
this year is no exception!

I began with one of those plastic/styrofoam pumpkins.
I painted on two layers of
Perfect Paints ~ Shimmering Matte Acrylic ~ Halo.

With a palette knife I applied a random layer of
Perfect Paints ~ Polishing Plaster ~ Doves Wings.

When dry, I applied a layer of 
Perfect Paints ~ Perfect Glaze Medium.

Lastly, I applied a mix of
Perfect Paints ~ Shimmering Matte Acrylic
Aged Copper and Cajun Orange
and Perfect Glaze Medium.
Let it sit for a minute,
then wiped off with baby wipes.

I then took a package of 
Petaloo Fancy Trims ~Burlap ~ Cream.

See the nice WIDE trim at the bottom??
....that is what I used!
First, I cut off about a 2.5" piece to create 
a new stem for my pumpkin.

I also used another piece of Burlap Trim
to cut out a circle
to adhere inside the "stem".

With what was left over I
cut it into sections, then cut the sections in half.
I then colored the edges of all the burlpa with
Perfect Paints ~ Shimmering Matte Acrylic
Aged Copper.

When dry, I applied everything to the pumpkin
with Ranger's Multi Medium ~ Matte.

Now....onto decorating my pumpkin!!

I like to bend the "stems" of the leaves
to give them added dimension.

Petaloo Fancy Trims ~ Burlap ~ Cream.

It will make a BEAUTIFUL center piece at our
Thanksgiving Family Dinner!

Halloween Fun with Petaloo ~ Tammy

Hi all everyone! Fall is in the air and Halloween is just right around the corner. Petaloo has just the ticket to spice up those wonderful cards to give to anyone for Halloween. I used the DIY Textured Elements Blooms on my card and colored them! Here is my Card..

Halloween colors of Purple and Orange misted and painted to go along with the Authentique "Thrilling Collection". Adorned with a little Media, lace and bling. Here are a couple of close ups of this card..

I shared the technique on how to paint these lovelies a couple of post back. But it is Ok too to leave them white! :)

Summer Fun Altered Canvas

I have loads of fresh photographs from our misadventure camping trip last week and I'm celebrating our "Summer Fun" with Petaloo by creating this altered canvas. 

I'm not really a scrapper, but I wanted to celebrate the memeories from our misadventures in camping so this altered canvas was an ideal option.

 

I know that summer fun often means bright, vibrant colours, but in this instance I'm using the DIY-Mini Mix in Teastained Cream just as they are to compliment the understated colours in the photograph. They add just the right amount of texture, and they pair so well with the natural burlap trim.

Back to School Lunch Money Bucket with Petaloo

When I was a kid my parents always had a change dish that they would leave lunch money in for school. I decided to repurpose a little galvanized bucket that used to be home to a long dead houseplant to make my own version of the "change dish". I used Petaloos new Burlap Sunflowers, Burlap trims, and a hot glue gun to fancy it up.

I love the realistic fuzzy sunflower center detail- it make these flowers extra special

I used Graphic 45s Alpha Stockers and Die cut Alphabets for the words

In addition to the wide trim piece around the bucket I also covered the wire handle with more of Petaloos Burlap Trims- you get 4 trims to a pack

since the inside of my bucket was a little worse for the wear, I covered it in a little denim

To do the inside trim, I just measured the circumference of the bucket, and the depth- cut out a piece of fabric, ironed down a 1/4 inch hem, then hot glued just a touch down from the brim.

another tip for adding trim to a fluted base is to sew a little dart in on two sides- you can machine or hand stitch- its really a quick little detail that will make your bucket look great!

Petaloo's DIY ~ Burlap Medium Sunflower ~ Ivory
is a PERFECT for such an occasion.

 

I began by spritzing
the DIY Sunflower with water.
Then I placed a puddle of 
Perfect Paints on my Craft Mat
and diluted it with a bit of water.
I applied the color with a small round brush.

I created another shade of Gold by mixing
in a bit of Aged Copper to allow
for shading.

When dry, I used my hot glue gun
to adhere a pin back 
and a few loopy bows.

I pined the brooch to the
card I made using
Authentique's ~ Faith 
Card Making Stack.
