A farewell to all of you.

I'm sharing my last official project for Petaloo with you today.  As you may know, Floracraft purchased Petaloo a year or so ago.  Now Floracraft has made the decision to integrate the Petaloo website with the Floracraft website and they've also decided to disband the Petaloo design team and that makes me sad.  I've had a wonderful year and a half  working with Cheryl, the former owner of Petaloo,  and representing Petaloo flowers.  I had the good fortune to work at the Phoenix  show this winter and at the Collins show last September teaching and demoing for Petaloo.  A very big thanks to Cheryl for giving me that opportunity.  

I made this birthday card with the recently released Graphic 45 Master Detective collection.  Really this is more than a birthday card, it's a folio that makes a little gift statement on its own.  I'm sure the recipient will be so intrigued as they wander through the card/folio and find all the fun places where you could hide notes and gifts.  Beginning with the cover,  there's a fun little file folder that slides out from behind the cut-apart on the cover.

I've made the cover ever so pretty by using Petaloo's  Botanica blooms and gerber daisies.  They just brighten things up so much!

When you open the cover you see birthday wishes.  I made a couple of ATC tags on the left and made a Julie Nutting doll on one of the tags.  On the right I stamped birthday greeting sentiments on the back side of an ephemera card from the Master Detective collection.  Two more pretty Petaloo gerber daisies add some pretty dimension.

The folio is a trifold with pockets and places to tuck notes, gift cards, movie tickets, air tickets, how about cruise tickets?  Wouldn't that make a grand birthday present?  In the center is a library pocket holding a small mini with 3 flip pages.

 

The little mini is bound at the top with staples.  The design paper strip serves to hide the staples.  This is a really quick way to make a tiny mini, just cut your paper to whatever size you wish, then score at 1/2" and staple.  Then decorate the cover and  you have a quick little flip book.  

On the right side there's a Graphic 45 policy envelope attached with felt hinges that flips over so that something can be hidden inside the envelope, yes it's a mystery what lurks inside!  On the right, underneath the policy envelope is a spot with a belly band, perfect for securing photos.

The back is simply decorated with design paper and an ephemera card.

Off To The Races Address Book

Hi everyone!! Lynne here, and today I have an address book for you. I actually had this book in my stash, and as soon as I pulled it out, I knew it would be perfect with Graphic 45's Off To The Races Collection. 

    This little binder is very old, but the colors are perfect with the papers, so I didn't want to cover the whole thing, instead, I opted to just layer my papers, chipboard pieces and flowers on top of the cover......more like an accent.

I diecut a few doilies to layer in between the papers. I also tucked in a few blooms among the papers, along with a bit of cheesecloth in and around the flowers. I distressed the edges of the papers, but didn't add any inking, I wanted the colors to stay pure.

I adore these Garden Rosettes.......so gorgeous!! and these colors are just perfect!!

I did make a few pages for the binder, thinking that I would turn it into a mini......but I decided to go ahead and use it as an address book instead. In the end, it looks much better, and is far more useable for what I want. I will probably turn the rest of the pages into tags and/or cards.

I hope that you enjoyed my address redo, and that you will be inspired to remake, and revamp some of the items you've been hoarding in your stash!!

Stitched With Love Vintage Style Sewing Themed Folio for Mom

Hello, Friends!  Where would we be without Mom?  With Mother's Day fast approaching, today's post is a tribute to moms everywhere.  Many of us are without our moms on this day for one reason or another.  My own precious mom went to be with the Lord in 2005.  Instead of being sad over her absence, I've created a new Mother's Day tradition of preparing a special card or gift for women who have played a crucial role in my life.   Even though these women are not MY mom, I'm sure they appreciate receiving a special gift that lets them know how much they mean to me.  So I've created a lovely Vintage Style Sewing Themed folio using Kaisercraft's lovely Mademoiselle collection.  This folio is for my dear friend Karen, who is a master quilt maker. 

 

This is a 5" x 7" folio with a 1" spine.  The dimensional pocket on the front cover is decorated with gorgeous Botanica Pistachio Anemones, Red Vintage Velvet Pansies, Green Mini Garden Rosettes, Green Mini Mixed Blooms, and Cream Darjeeling Mini Blossoms. 

 

These blooms top a dimensional pocket that I filled with paper pretties.

Don't you just love the way that the buttons on this hand stamped vintage style button card pick up on the pansies in the flower cluster?

The spine is decorated with ribbon, a cluster of small charms, and a pretty button.

 

The album is just chock full of vintage charm, beautiful patterns, pretty flowers and interactive elements.

Lots of  pockets with little paper pretties tucked in.  I just love interactive elements, don't you?

We are so pleased with this flower for spring.  It looks so similar to how it grows in the garden ...CRSIP.  This poly/cotton material holds the shape perfectly.  (YES, it can be altered with any paint, ink, or spray.)

Aren't the colors great?!  Lots of variety for your projects.  Plus, with it's clean and unfussy look ... it will look great with any contemporary or modern paper or project.

 

As we've said before ... with a hot glue gun this flower can be adhered to any paper crafting project, a greeting card, a picture frame, an album, or whatever you are creating!

Petaloo Pretties for Creativation (CHA)

Hello, Friends!  Happy New Year!  It seems the holidays came and went in a flash, doesn't it?  I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful time celebrating and relaxing with family and friends.  The big event for January's calendar is  the Creativation Show (formerly known as CHA).  Thousands of individuals and businesses in the creative arts industry will be gathering to display new product, share make and takes, receive awards for innovation and design and connect with other creative souls in the industry.  Of course Petaloo International by Floracraft will be there and I was honored to be asked to create a few fun samples to show off our gorgeous flowers. I thought it might be fun to share a few sneak peeks of them with you here today.

Butterfly Wings Banner

Banners are so much fun to make...and so hard to photograph!  I wish you could see this one in person, as it is one of the prettiest I have ever made.  I used Graphic 45 Nature Sketchbook with a host of beautiful Petaloo flowers.

These yellow Anemones just pop off the Nature's Sketchbook papers, don't they?  I added in Cream Darjeeling Hydrangea, Cream Darjeeling Garden Rosettes and flirty Cream Teastained Darjeeling Butterflies.

I sponged the Cream Garden Rosettes with a little yellow ink.  I love that Petaloo Flowers can be altered in so many different ways!

This Graphic 45 Shabby Chic Door Pull was painted with cream acrylic paint.  I filled the center with Green Hydrangea and Cream Petite Darjeeling blooms.

The edges of the designer papers were dry brushed with cream paint to soften them just a little. 

I always appreciate  how perfectly Petaloo flowers match Graphic 45 papers!

Trifold Mini Album

Variety is the spice of life, especially when the spice refers to these beautiful Spice Darjeeling Mini Mix Blossoms!  They add a lovely punch of color to the cover of this album.  I've paired them up with another gorgeous Yellow Anemone, Cream Petite Blossoms, and Cream Darjeeling Butterflies. Peach Berry Clusters add a touch of sophistication and shine.

This petite album measures just 5" x 7" but it has loads of room for photos and journaling.  There are 8 photo mounts behind the belly band on this page!  If you place a photo on both sides, that's 16 photos!

The center panel has a double pocket with room for smaller 4" x 4" photos and journaling cards.

The waterfall folio on the far right side is made by cutting 4" wide x 4.5" tall rectangles from Nature Sketchbook Prints and Patterns paper.  Each rectangle was scored 1/2" on the long side, then folded to create a 4" square.  You simply glue each folded flap to the base, lining up the top edge and sides as you go along.  The shaped edges were created with a corner punch.  It's a fun way to fit a lot of pictures into a small space!

I used belly bands to hold small fussy cut images from the collection.  Photos can slip right behind the band, easy peasy!

Petaloo Butterfly Tree

Floracraft manufactures beautiful styrofoam forms that can be used to create really pretty party decor like this Petaloo Butterfly Tree. 

I love this pretty combination of paper rosettes, Darjeeling Rosettes, Butterflys and buttons!

I used an empty spool as the base for my styrofoam tree form.  Torn paper layers were decoupaged onto the foam base.   Then I just had the best time hot gluing a garden full of flowers, butterflies and rosettes on top.  These three pieces would make lovely bridal shower decor, don't you think?

 I won't get to see my creations in person as I am not attending Creativation this year, but Maggi has promised to snap photos for me.  If you are headed to the show, be sure to stop by the Petaloo International booth.  Cheryl and Maggi have some mighty sweet surprises in store for you there!

Welcome Tati Scraps!

I am excited to introduce to you, all the way from Spain, Raquel, who is better known in the scrappy world as Tati Scraps.  Welcome to the Petaloo design team and family Tati!

 

"Hello to all!!

My name is Raquel, though I’m known as Tati Scrap in the craft´s world.

The name "Tati" is in memory of my most loved dog Tati....she died in 2013, the year I started to be a crafter ...it is my tribute to her.

I´m 42 years old, I was born in Cádiz City, Spain, where the weather is always warm and sunny.   

I am married to an amazing man, Ramon, and we have five dogs!!

I'm a emergencies nurse ..love my profession.

When I discovered Petaloo Flowers , it challenges me...  are perfect to decorate all my craft projects, they inspire to me!! 

I am honoured to be a part of the awesome Petaloo  Design Team... It is a DREAM and I will work hard creating to make people happy!  nice to meet you !!

Halloween in Wonderland Mini Album

Hello, Lovely Friends!  Halloween is one of the best photo ops around: cute little kids all dressed up in adorable costumes, homes decorated with pumpkins, mums and other pretties, falling leaves and beautiful blue skies.  So I thought it would be fun to work up a little Halloween in Wonderland mini album where I can store all the great pics of my grand girls enjoying this SPOOK-tacular holiday.

 

This is a "from scratch" album made with an upcycled cereal box.  It's covered with Graphic 45 DIY papers.  I've added loads of goodies from the Halloween in Wonderland paper collection along with some fun G45 Metal Staples and tags. 

The perfect finishing touch is the gorgeous Petaloo Berry Picks, Anemones, Jeweled Flowers and more.  I love the way they pick up the colors on the cover of this album!

Tucking the flowers around my fussy cut and chipboard elements really pulled this design together.  Talk about texture!  Wow!

 

The inside of the album has lots of fun little pockets, tags, folios and fold out pages.

 

 

Throughout the album, I used Staples Alphabet Tags to spell out Halloween related words.  Topping the tags with Darjeeling blooms added a pop of lovely color and texture to the tags.

 

I created a short YouTube video tour for you so that you can see all the details of the album.  It has lots of pretty, pretty Petaloo flowers scattered throughout.

Back to School With Petaloo and Graphic 45 ABC Primer

Hello, Friends!  Are you getting ready to go back to school?  Already back in school?  Either way, I have a super fun Back to School Ensemble to share with you today using fabulous Petaloo flowers and Graphic 45's ABC Primer Classic Edition.

 

This trio of vintage goodness includes a card, a mini album and a fun cork board to help you keep track of all those important dates.

 

I picked up this cork board some time ago at a yard sale.  No one wanted it because it was sooooo ugly!  It's amazing how a coat of black chalkboard paint, some fun papers and gorgeous Red Petaloo blooms can transform a cast off, isn't it?  I doubled the thickness of the cork panels so that the cute little push pins would stay in.  These Chantilly Petaloo Blossoms in Burgundy and Red match the ABC Primer papers so well.  And I love the touch of vintage goodness that the Velvet Hydrangeas add, don't you?  And do you spy that sweet little Darjeeling mini butterfly? Does your school have a teacher appreciation day?  If so, why not make your child's teacher a pretty card as a way to break the ice? 

 

I love to make easel cards because they display nicely on a desk.

 

Easel cards are simple to make.  Build your card base to whatever size you choose.  This one measures 4.25" x 5.5".  Score the card front half way up; for this card, that would be at 2.75".  Then crease along the score line, folding the bottom of the card front in toward the interior of the card base.  Cut a second piece of cardstock to match the size of your card front.  For this card, you would want it to measure 4.25" wide by 5.5" tall.  Build your card design on this base, and then glue it to the bottom half of your scored and folded base.  Adding a stopper on the interior of the card means that the card can stand on it's own.

Since I already had all my papers scattered all over the place, I decided to make a matching mini album.  This is my own design, and it uses just 2 sheets of 8.5x11 cardstock. Although it only measures 4.25" x 6.25", it's loaded with pockets, pull outs, fold outs and even has a waterfall folio inside.  It's the perfect spot to save photos from the upcoming school year.

 

Once again, I love the way these Petaloo flowers complement the papers.

Summertime Fun Journal for Tweens

Hello, Petaloo Fans!  It's Kathy here with a fun activity for your tweens. This summertime journal is a quick, easy and affordable project.  It's perfect for taking along on a long car trip, tucking into a camper's suitcase, carrying on an airplane or taking to Grandma's house.

        

The base is a standard steno notebook.  These are awesome, because the back cover is so sturdy you don't need a desk.  This is such a simple make that your tween could put this together all on her own.  (I did not make one for a boy, but you could do so easily!)

 I decorated the cover with Simple Stories Sunshine and Happiness paper, then added on chipboard elements and stickers for extra fun.

What tween wouldn't love to journal in this cute notebook.  Plenty of pink Petaloo posies make it extra special!

 

 

Decorate the inside cover with more designer papers and create a simple slash pocket to hold journaling cards.  The cards can be glued into the journal along with photos. 

 

 These fun journal cards will look great when added to the inside pages. You could add postage stamps and envelopes to the pocket to encourage your tween to write letters home from camp or grandma's house. Tuck in a hot pink pen, and you're good to go!
