A farewell to all of you.

I'm sharing my last official project for Petaloo with you today.  As you may know, Floracraft purchased Petaloo a year or so ago.  Now Floracraft has made the decision to integrate the Petaloo website with the Floracraft website and they've also decided to disband the Petaloo design team and that makes me sad.  I've had a wonderful year and a half  working with Cheryl, the former owner of Petaloo,  and representing Petaloo flowers.  I had the good fortune to work at the Phoenix  show this winter and at the Collins show last September teaching and demoing for Petaloo.  A very big thanks to Cheryl for giving me that opportunity.  

I made this birthday card with the recently released Graphic 45 Master Detective collection.  Really this is more than a birthday card, it's a folio that makes a little gift statement on its own.  I'm sure the recipient will be so intrigued as they wander through the card/folio and find all the fun places where you could hide notes and gifts.  Beginning with the cover,  there's a fun little file folder that slides out from behind the cut-apart on the cover.

I've made the cover ever so pretty by using Petaloo's  Botanica blooms and gerber daisies.  They just brighten things up so much!

When you open the cover you see birthday wishes.  I made a couple of ATC tags on the left and made a Julie Nutting doll on one of the tags.  On the right I stamped birthday greeting sentiments on the back side of an ephemera card from the Master Detective collection.  Two more pretty Petaloo gerber daisies add some pretty dimension.

The folio is a trifold with pockets and places to tuck notes, gift cards, movie tickets, air tickets, how about cruise tickets?  Wouldn't that make a grand birthday present?  In the center is a library pocket holding a small mini with 3 flip pages.

 

The little mini is bound at the top with staples.  The design paper strip serves to hide the staples.  This is a really quick way to make a tiny mini, just cut your paper to whatever size you wish, then score at 1/2" and staple.  Then decorate the cover and  you have a quick little flip book.  

On the right side there's a Graphic 45 policy envelope attached with felt hinges that flips over so that something can be hidden inside the envelope, yes it's a mystery what lurks inside!  On the right, underneath the policy envelope is a spot with a belly band, perfect for securing photos.

The back is simply decorated with design paper and an ephemera card.

 

Many thanks to all the Petaloo flower lovers that have followed the blog and design team over the years.  There will still be Petaloo flowers so keep an eye out on the Floracraft website to see what is new for Petaloo.

It's crazy that this is the only photo I can find of my Dad and me, so I scrap it often!  I was 4 years old and we had just returned from 3 years in France aboard the USS United States.  I do wish I remembered all that!

Maja Design of Sweden so generously gave the Petaloo Design Team some of their gorgeous vintage papers and they go so beautifully with Petaloo's flowers.  I used royal blue ranunculus and sugared minis on this layout.  Then to add to the shabby vintage looked, I dry brushed white paint over the flowers and leaves.

 

 

 

My title is chipboard from Creative Embellishments that I misted with Lindy's and then glued on some 13 Arts blue grit.  Underneath the photo I used a Circle Doodle Frame .

Maggi here to share my vintage journal with you.  I used papers from several Maja collections to design this fun vintage journal that can be used for photos and stories.  I love that Maja's papers coordinate from collection to collection.  Petaloo's Penny Lane flowers blend so nicely with Maja's paper so and the flowers come in a great selection of 10 different vintage colors.  I used Antique Mauve flowers on the cover and throughout the journal.

 

I masked on the journal cover and then inked with Lindy's mists and Distress Oxide Inks.  I was having trouble deciding on a color palette so I just went with various!  For the closure, I diecut a hinge with an Alterations die from grunge board and felt.  I glued the felt to the grunge board to give it strength and then used a magnetic closure on the front.

 

Here are the papers inside.  I kept them all simple to showcase the beautiful vintage papers.

Spring roses with Petaloo!

Maggi here today and I've pulled together some of my current favorite things  to show off Petaloo's new and ever so fabulous roses!  I started out with a ginormous Tim Holtz Etcetera tag; it's 6.5" x 12".  Lots of real estate for creating!

 

Then I stenciled on a background with some modeling paste.  Next I grabbed my new favorite Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks and created a background of pinks and purples.  I streaked on some Prima Vintage Gold wax to give it some highlights!

 

 

Now I just love that giant sun, Helios I, from Sandra Evertson.  I actually used the backside because I love all the wood burned detail.  But what really makes this piece shine, are all the new spring release gorgeous Petaloo roses !

I used a mix of Garden Roses in guava and Fairy Rose Buds in Lavender/purple.  These flowers are just so delicate and lifelike.

 

 

Graphic 45's Place in Time had the perfect spring images to embellish my spring tag.  They go so perfectly with the lovely Petaloo roses!  These roses look great on any project.  I can also see them utilized with wedding decor. ohhh consider the many possibilities!!

Mom's are the best with Maggi!

 

Mother's Day is just around the corner so I wanted to make a layout with a photo of me Mom and me.  

 

 

I used Maja Designs Vintage Frost Basics papers to create my layout.  First, I did some masking on the background and added a torn corrugated strip on the side atop another piece of design paper and topped that with a beautiful lacy piece of chipboard from Creative Embellishments.

 

I think the lacy border makes such a pretty platform for my coral Petaloo Botanica flowers and sugared berry picks!  

I used another piece of chipboard under this floral cluster of Petaloo Botaonicas.  It really sets of the flowers so nicely!

Maggi's Treasure Box

 

I love boxes in all sizes and shapes.  It pains me to throw them away and I have a big closet full of boxes in all sizes and shapes to support my box addiction!  Just imagine how happy Mom or any gal would be to receive a special gift encased in this box.

 

 

This is a new Graphic 45 Staples Deep Rectangle Matchbook Box that I covered with Graphic 45's Portrait of a Lady collection and embellished with Petaloo's Botanica blooms. These coral blooms are so pretty with these papers.

 

I used dimensional foam tape to pop up layers on the top of the box.  Notice how in the upper left corner I nestleds my Petaloo blooms over printed flowers in the design paper.  This helps to give the printed flowers the illusion of dept and makes the floral cluster appear larger.

 

I also added some Cheery Lynn Designs flourishes to my floral clusters, I think they add a special touch to my clusters.

 

 

I kept the sides simple letting the top have all the glory! You know, sometimes less is more, right?  I used some fun drawer pulls on either end of the box to make it more functional.

 

 

Don't you love how the flowers cascade over the side?  The inside drawer is also covered; however,  I did not cover the drawer on the outside so that it would easily slide in and out of the box.

How fun to team up with Creative Embellishments (CE)  to bring you a week of Mother's Day fabulous projects using Petaloo flowers and Creative Embellishments chipboard.  It doesn't get much better than that as far as I am concerned!

 

I chose to honor a "different" kinda Mom, but still a Mom.  For so many of us, myself included, our furbabies are our children and we are their Moms.  My furbabies know that I am Mom and if my husband tells my dogs that "Mom's home", they go running to the back door.  I adore this photo of dog Mom,  Maria Cole and her sweet dog Archie.  The look that is passing between them is so special.  It really illustrates the bond between dogs and their human parents.

 

I love to layer chipboard vines and flourishes underneath my Petaloo blooms, that is such a great look.  I colored my chippies with some gold mist and then lightly dry brushed white paint onto the chippies and the flowers.  Petaloo's Darjeeling Blooms are perfect for painting and misting as they are a nice heavy weight paper flower.

I used Petaloo Darjeeling blooms on my layout, they are some of my favorites.  I've used dahlias, rosetes and little minis along with a couple butterflies, all from the Darjeeling collection. 

 

In addition to chipboard, Creative Embellishments sells masks, wood veneers and stamps. I used a CE pawprint mask on the background of this layout, its just the touch I wanted.

A Vintage Velvet Fairyland!

 

 

Hi there Petaloo fans!  I've created a fun little fantasy land using a Prima birdcage, a perfect litle string of lights from Creative Embellishments and the most gorgeous Petalo  Vintage Velvet Pansies.

 

Here it is in daylight.

 

 

I first used Petaloo's Darjeeling Green Hydrangeas to create my floral carpet and then layered the pansies over top. The clover and fairy are Creative Embellishments chipboard pieces.   

There are a couple Darjeeling butterflies flitting about too!

Maggi's Furbabies!

Maggi here today, and I'm sharing a layout I did of my sweet furbabies, Nika and Tisha.  They love each other so much and they're always together, sleeping, playing or begging!  🐩 😍

While I was at Creativation in Phoenix I stopped by the Fabscraps booth and visited with Bea and Cait.  Knowing that they are dog lovers like me, I showed them this sweet photo and  they said you must scrap this photo with our new collection, Lavender Breeze.  And WOW, it worked so perfectly with my photo!

Even better, Petaloo's Briar Roses look fabulous with this collection. The purples and lavenders go so perfectly with the papers.  I tucked in some Cheery Lynn Designs diecuts to finish off my clusters.

 

These hearts are diecuts that are included in the collection and I thought they looked really great nestled in with my Petaloo blooms.

Save Them All - Maggi's Canvas

 

Petaloo loves pets and an organization that is dear to our hearts is Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.  I made this canvas thinking about them and the good works they do saving animals all over the US.  

 

I used Tim Holtz's Crazy Dogs and Crazy Things stamp sets and coordinating dies to make all these silly pups.  They are just so fun and of course while I was working away, some of them acquired names.  Ha, that dachshund there at the bottom is Kiki, named after a friend's pup.

 

And that cute little pink bull dog, why that's Petunia, she's been a project star before.  I just adore her.  Isn't she so chic in her shades?

 

I really don't know why Tim didn't have a poodle in his crazy dog collection so I had to make my own, she's not too crazy but she's a cutie nestled in there with those mini Darjeeling flowers.

Those fun little flair buttons are from Creative Embellishments.

 

Petunia has a couple of cousins hanging out on the canvas today, 😊, Spike and Fred.

Did you know that Darjeeling flowers are paintable?  I painted some of these the same color as the Creative Embellishments scribble heart.
