Christmas Gift Tags by Lynne

 

Back by popular demand ... Holiday GIFT TAGS is one of our most popular projects by our friend and former DT member Lynne Forsythe ...

 *   *    *

Tis the season of all the trimmings....
and what better way to trim a gift bag
then with a "Bag Tag"
I love to use a simple Kraft paper bag
with a little tissue paper,
helps the "Bag Tag" POP!

The base of each tag is one
G45's ~ Large Tag Album ~ Ivory. 
I traced the "tag" onto 2 different
G45 papers from the A Christmas Carol Collection.

For this tag I used Bah Humbug,
using both sides of the paper.

I applied Multi Medium to the face of this "tag"
misted CCB ~ Tissuestock with water
and squinched it up on the tag
tearing it in spots.
I applied a layer Perfect Paints ~ Bright Gold
mixed with Perfect Glaze Medium
wiping off at will.

I finished off my first tag with Lots of
Petaloo Sugared Botanica Blooms
and Vintage Velvet Dogwoods
Velvet Hydrangeas.

....now onto my next "bag tag"!

For my second "Bag Tag", I used
G45's ~ Seasonal Sentiments and
Yuletide Greetings. 

I inked around the edges of the tags,
I then applied BoBunny Gold Glitter Paste
through TCW Vineyard stencil around the edges.

For my flower cluster I used 
Petaloo's Sugared Bontanica Blooms
along with a Sugared Pick.

I tucked in Petaloo's Velvet Hydrangeas
along with the stapled Vintage Velvet Leaves
from the Dogwood package.

I added one of the
G45's Christmas Carol Chipboard
to finish off the tag!

Finally to "Bag Tag" #3!

This was actually the first "Bag Tag" I created!
I began by only cutting out one new tag from
G45's Christmas Carol ~ Seasonal Sentiments.
I chose to paint the G45's Large Tag ~ Ivory
with Perfect Paints ~ Rainstorm.

I applied Perfect Paints Dried Cranberry through
TCW ~ Bee on Time stencil.
Then I created in a concoction of 
Perfect Paints ~ Bright Gold and
Perfect Glaze Medium....Loving the look!

I used a mixture of
Petaloo's Sugared Botanica Blooms,
Minis and Pick, 
along with Vintage Velvet Dogwoods.

The Petaloo Blooms look so BEAUTIFUL when 
matched with G45's A Christmas Carol papers!

I can't wait to decorate my gift bags with 
these "Bag Tags" and to 
see the eyes of the receivers!
That's what this holiday season is 
ALL ABOUT!

 

 

From Kids crafts to Back to School

I can't hardly believe that it is Back to School season!!

Here is a great transitional craft you can do with your kiddos
as they prepare to head back to school.

I pulled out the same supplies I used for my
Picture Frame Craft.

Acrylic Paint
Stencils
Chipboard 
Ribbon and Twine
Stickles
PETALOO BLOOMS!

I cut (3) 4 x 6 cards from a sheet of cardstock.
Next, we applied torn dictionary paper
to the card faces with
Multi Medium Matte
(that way if the kids get it everywhere
it won't show when it's dry!!)

After creating quarter size puddles of paint
on the craft mat,
we applied the paint with a makeup sponge
through our stencils
creating a beautiful tie-dye effect.

We painted various pieces of chipboard 
with our paint and added our 
PETALOO BLOOMS!

Close ups of our cards.....

Let kids SPARINGLY apply
watered down paint to moistened 
PETALOO BLOOMS 
for a tie dye effect.

BONUS: have the kids WRITE end of the summeR notes to 
FRIENDS, FAMILY and TEACHERS!
(what is becoming a long lost art!)

The FUN we had!!

This past weekend, I had the opportunity
to create with my 12 year old niece.
It is one of FAVORITE things to do 
when we get together!

I did a little shopping at my local box store 
for some supplies.

Wooden Picture frames and paint.

I went to my stash for 
Petaloo Blooms
The Crafter's Workshop stencils
and my extensive stash of 
chipboard shapes and letters.

We painted our entire wooden frames with paint.
Then chose stencils and
layered on various colors.

What a FABULOUS use of color by Sarah!

When everything was dry we applied
our chosen Petaloo blooms to our 
picture frames.

I just LOVE Sarah's finished creation!
a JOB WELL DONE!!

Here is my picture frame....

Such a SIMPLE craft that ended with 
a GREAT TIME of creating with 
MY FAVORITE NIECE!!!

For my decorations/invitations,
I colored a couple 
Canvas Corp Brands ~ Heirloom papers
Black on Ivory
I used...
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.

I also colored
Petaloo's Paintables ~ Dogwood x 24 Canvas
with the Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.

I cut the colored 12 x 12 paper in half
I cut (7) triangles from the halves.

I then cut a slightly larger triangles out of
Canvas Corp Brands ~ Ivory Burlap.
For interest I added some
vintage lace.

I adhered the layers together. 
Then, I adhered a length of vintage Ric Rac
over top of the banner shapes.
When dry, I adhered
Canvas Corp Brand ~ White Ties & Tags
to the Rick Rac.
Then I layered on a
Petaloo Paintables ~ Daisy Layers ~ Ivory
at loopy jute bow
a stapled
Petaloo Paintables ~ Dogwood ~ White leaf
and a colored
Petaloo Paintables ~ Dogwood ~ White
(the larger ones) 

I had some of the left~over colored paper
so I created little "banners" for my cake.

I hot glued extra long toothpicks 
to my colored banner pieces.

How cute is that??

This is a GREAT project you could
do with your kids!

What BETTER products to use then

7gypsies 5 x 7 Naked Starter Journal and
5 x 7 Starter Journal Cover
.....let the creative process begin.
(I know I did!!)

I chose a few
Canvas Corp Brands ~ Black on Ivory papers
and pieces of burlap for the background
and colored then with dabs of
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists
Dijon
Rusty Red
Safari Green
(and yes...you see a piece of chicken wire!!)

The focal point of my "memory book"
is the FABULOUS
DIY Medium Burlap Sunflower
I began by spritzing the entire flower
with water and began coloring
from light to dark!

First Layer ~ Dijon
Second Layer ~ Rusty Red
Third Layer ~ Camel Glimmer Glam

I separated the DIY Queen Annes.
I colored the "hairy" leaves with
Tattered Angels ~ Safari Green
and the 
Queen Annes with
Tattered Angels ~ Rusty Red.

I pulled apart the
DIY Burlap Picks.
I colored the leaves with
Tattered Angels ~ Safari Green
and inserted the "berries" randomly
in my floral cluster.

To finish it all off
I sprayed directly on 
(2) DIY Mini Mix x 8 blooms with
Tattered Angels ~ Dijon.

My "Memory Book" could be used as a 
Graduation Party ~ Guest Book
Graduation Day ~ Mini Album
or anything else you can think of!

Welcome Welcome to the
Petaloo and Simple Stories Blog Hop!

I was sooo inspired by the DT package
I received, I created 2 projects.

I thought I would do something a bit different
and create a layout.
But it just wouldn't be me to not
add a bit of texture medium and paint...

 

I began by "mapping" out where I wanted
my "path" of texture medium to go
and applied it through my stencil
onto Simple Stories ~ Dig It 
from the Bloom & Grow Collection.

 

When dry, I applied a diluted mixture
of pink paint to my
"rocks" to create depth and to tie them
in with my "pink" theme.

I just LOVE the photo I chose to use
for my layout,
 of my daughter and I on Mother's Day
and the words on one of 
Simple Stories ~ Bloom & Grow
3 x 4 Journaling Cards
matched PERFECTLY!

How cute are the 
chipboard and sticker banner??

I had so much fun integrating the 
chipboard and sticker elements
with my flower cluster which was filled with
Petaloo Blooms
Garden Rosettes x 6 Canvas ~ Pink
Cherry Blossoms x 24 ~ Blush
Petites x 24 ~ Spice and Green
Botanica Mini's ~ White
Flowering Pick ~ Black Berry
Calla Lily Cluster ~ White
Baby's Breath Pick ~ White

For my second project I created a card.

I used the same technique 
of applying the texture medium to my card face.

Once again, I applied diluted paint to
my stone path.

I splattered the paint onto the card face.

I cut up the leftover chipboard and
applied it to my "Happy" sticker.

Gift for a Grad

Hi Petaloo Fans,
Lynne Forsythe here with a
GREAT gift for a grad!

My creation began with a "naked" birdhouse.
I proceeded to cover the birdhouse with
various papers from the
Simple Stories ~ Bloom and Grow Collection.
Navy Dot/Red Dot
Chin Up, Buttercup!
Let It Grow

Next, I pulled out a few packages of
Petaloo's Darjeeling Collection in
Cream
Blue
Spice
Yellow
in both the
Mini Mix and
Petites

I accented my flower cluster with the
AMAZING Blue Berry Picks.
I separated one pick into two groupings.

I finished off my Birdhouse with 
Enamel Dots
and a quote from
Simple Stories ~ 4x4 4x6 Vertical Elements
and a 
Mini Butterflies from Petaloo.

Hello Petaloo Fans
Thank you for joining in on our weeklong
blog hop with Authentique.

My favorite quote is...

So I created a "Memory Box"
to hold my moments from a recent trip.

 

Authentique's ~ Explore
was the PERFECT collection for my box!

I began my creation with a paper mache
box which I painted and added beach to.

When dry I covered my box
with Authentique's ~ Explore Eight
and added a piece of canvas and cording
to tie my "Memory Box" closed.

 

I proceeded to create layers
using Authentique's Explore Five
a Authentic Life Card
and a few stickers from Detail sheet
a bit of white picket fence 
and a bit of burlap!

I printed out wallet size "memories"
and adhered them to 
the Authentic Life Cards and 
wrote my "memory" on the back.

I finished off my "Memory Box" with
Petaloo Darjeeling blooms
Mini Mix Teastained Blue
Teastained Yellow
and a few
DIY ~ Mixed Leaves

The PERFECT finishing touch to my
"Memory Box"!

Spring ATC's by Lynne

Hi Petaloo Fans!
Hope you are having better luck
with spring than we are here in Northern NH!

In celebration of our latest snowstorm
I created some BRIGHT and CHEERY ATC's.

I began my ATC's by applying various
texture mediums through stencils onto
Authentiques ~ Paradise and Enchantments
from the Utopia collection.
I then cut them into 2.5 x 3.5 ATC.

I then pulled out a package of Petaloo's 
Mini Burlap ~ Antique Red
and Authentiques ~ Details.

For my second ATC
I pulled out
Petaloo's Canvas Dogwood ~ Pink & Blue
a bit of Burlap Trim ~ Pink.

The paper "ruffle" I made from 
Authentique's ~ Felicity
is a fun addition to the next ATC.

I used a mixture of 
Petaloo's Burlap and Canvas Blooms.

I went a bit vintage with my last ATC
and mixed in
Petaloo's Vintage Velvet Dogwood
 with Canvas Dogwood
accented with Textured Layers
a few chippies and vintage lace!

I hope you have enjoyed my ATC's!
I have had a hankering to make
a few of these little ditties
and what a GREAT PAIRING!!

Inspirational Cube by Lynne Forsythe

Hi Petaloo Fans!!

Spring is in the air even
if there is a possible impending snow storm.
We've had a pretty mild Winter for Northern NH...
but it's now time for the grass to be green
and the flowers to be blooming!

I wanted to share with you on
of my recent creations...
An "Inspirational Cube"

I began with a 3" x 3" wooden cube,
which I painted and then
 covered with papers from 
Graphic 45's Mon Amour Collection.
I also wrapped it with a piece of 
Petaloo's Fancy Trim.

I pulled out a piece of wire mesh to build
my flower cluster on.

Have you seen Petaloo's Calla Lilies
so soft and beautiful?
I accented the floral cluster with the
corresponding berry pick.

I colored a few DIY Mixed Leaves
and DIY Rosebuds
and topped it off with a
Vintage Velvet Mini.

Now, I couldn't call it an
"Inspirational Cube" 
without a quote...
one of my FAVORITES!
