Hi everybody! Helena here to share some inspiration with you, using Petaloo flowers, Core'dinations papers and Xyron adhesives.

My first project is a mixed media canvas in purple shades. Purple is one of my favorite colors, and a perfect color for fall projects!

I have cut leaves using a dark grey paper from Core'dinations, and sprayed them with purple mist. The Botanica flowers from Petaloo were also misted, and I have painted the edges with some white gesso. I have glued the flower with Xyron zots, and used 3D foam squares for the clock faces, to get more dimension.

I have also made a card, and this one I'm gonna send to a friend. Fall is the perfect season for meeting friends for coffee and a talk!

For this card I have used white and dark grey papers from Core'dinations. The flowers are Botanica and Forget Me Nots. I have adhered the papers with 3D foam squares and sticky dot runner, and the flowers with zots, all from Xyron.

Vintage Halloween with Authentique and Petaloo

Hi! Helena here to share some Petaloo and Authentique inspiration with you! Authentiques Spirited Card Making Stack and Petaloos Textured flowers and Botanica flowers inspired me to make two Halloween cards with a vintage touch.

This card making stack makes it so easy to make cards, and I adore the cut outs that goes with this collection.

For the first card I have used a Mixed Bloom, color Sienna, in the middle and then black Textured Mini Blossoms around it.

Just look at these amazing flowers!

For my second card I have used a large black Burlap Blossom and then black Textured Mini Blossoms and also lavender/purple Botanica Petites.

Fall inspiration

Hi everybody! Helena here to share some fall inspiration with you. Today I have a wooden tag to show you. I decided to make a large bow with a brown and white ribbon from May Arts, and then I decorated with lots of beautiful Petaloo flowers.

The large flowers are Mixed Blooms, color Sienna, and the smaller flowers are one Velvet Hydrangea and one Darjeeling flower. I have also tucked in lots of Darjeeling leaves around the flowers.

Welcome back card

Hi! Helena here to share a Welcome Back to the teacher card. Teachers are fantastic, and a card is a great way to show them some appreciation!

I just love the sweet papers from Maja Design, and the amazing crocheted flowers from Petaloo matches the papers just perfect! The crocheted flowers are from the Chantilly collection - Velvet and Lace flowers - and I have used one pink and one buttercream. I have also added some Petaloo trim (shades of beige) and two brads (shades of green).

Looking at this card makes me happy, and I hope the teacher who receives it will be happy too!

Let's get the fun started with Petaloo DT member ... Helena Johansson

 

Everybody needs a pretty notebook. It's much more fun writing in it if it's pretty, and especially if you have decorated it yourself!

I decided to make a romantic and shabby book, and had so much fun working with Core'dinations amazing papers and tags, and Petaloos beautiful Botanica flowers.

Purple is an amazing color, and works so well with silver. I used two Core'dination papers for the background, one dark gray and one white. I sanded the edges of both papers and then cut the white one slightly smaller than the gray. I then used a brick stencil with texture paste to create some texture, and misted the whole paper with silver and purple mists. I then glued the papers to my notebook and began to decorate.

I have used two core tags from Core'dinations. The one peeking out from underneath the flower was purple, and I sanded the edges and misted it with silver mist before adding a little clock to it.

The tag used on the top of the book, was white when I started. I misted it heavily with silver and purple mist, folded it and then wrinkled it up a bit.

The flowers are Botanica flowers, one Botanica bloom in lavender and Floral Ephemera in the same color. I have also used purple Mixed Blooms.

Pretty for summer

Hi! I hope everyone is having a great summer! Something fun to do with the kids, is making your own jewelry and hair decorations. It's so easy and you can make just about anything using the stuff you already have at home (hairclips, hairbands and so on) and of course Petaloos amazing flowers and embellishments!

Today I'm showing how simple it is to decorate a hairband and making a flower brooch. My little daughter is the model of the day :). (Btw, she is not angry as you might think looking at these photos, she just takes her assignment very seriously!)

For the headband I used Petaloo's Floradoodles Fabric'n'glitter flowers, Brites, and just layered different sizes and colors, putting a brad in the middle. I then glued them onto the headband using hot glue.

For the brooch, I used green Floradoodle flowers, and a green pearl brad in the middle. I then glued the flowers to a pin, using hot glue, and then the brooch is ready! So easy, and so pretty!

Fun gift tags

I love to create with children, they have so many ideas and their creativity is endless! For this project I gathered not only my own daughter (who is 8 years old and loves to create with or without me), but also my little niece (6 years old) and nephew (4 years old). We decided to make gift tags, for them to use for birthday parties or other special occations.

I pulled out lots of gorgeous Petaloo Floradoodle flowers, butterflies, trims and brads. I pre-cut papers (from Marion Smith designs) to fit the tags, and then the kids created all on their own. I made two tags myself, and I was so inspired by the childrens creations that I actually "stole" some of their ideas! For example, the girls put brads in the tag holes - brilliant!!

These tags were created by my niece, Julia:

I love the color combination on the tag on the right, with the Aqua Blue Velvet Butterfly and the dark pink flower. The tag on the left has a piece of Pink Fancy Trim on top and a piece of a doily attached to the back - very creative!

My daughter, Linn, and my nephew, Gabriel, made one tag each. Linn used a Dazzler frog on hers, so cute!! And Gabriel's tag is very simple but yet stylish - one large orange Velvet Butterfly, just so cool!

And here are my own two tags, not as bold and bright as the kids as I have a "thing" for these amazing Cream Velvet Hydrangeas, but I'm quite pleased with them anyway:

Summer inspiration

Hi! Summer is my favorite time of year, just love the sun, the warmth, the beach! I have created a summer card with my favorite colors and with lots of Petaloo goodies.

I wanted to get that "beachy" feeling, and the Petaloo seashells along with cheesecloth did the job for me! The burlap flowers in teal and white are amazing, and just perfect for this project.

I have touched everything with white gesso and also misted with light blue mist here and there. The background paper is from Quick Quotes, the Serendipity collection. As a base, I have used cardboard.

So let's finish the DADS & GRADS WEEK with an ALTERED CANVAS from Petaloo DT member ...

Want to make something special and personal for a graduate? A canvas is the perfect gift!

To get you inspired, I have made a canvas using papers from Quick Quotes, the Serendipity collection, together with lots of Petaloo Burlap flowers.

I started by painting the entire canvas with white gesso, and used a stencil with texture paste to get a bit of texture. I then ripped pieces of Quick Quotes paper and glued them in the middle. I have also used chipboard frames from Quick Quotes, painted with white gesso first, and then inked with Quick Quoutes Powder Puff Chalking Ink, colors Caribbean Blue and Plum Crazy. I then cut out a little quote that's suitable for the occasion.

I decorated with Petaloo Burlap blossoms, colors Ivory and Teal. I have also used Spring Berry Clusters, Botanica collection. Finally I added some seashells. Then I used white gesso and a sponge and gave everything a white touch, and used the Quick Quotes Chalking Ink, Caribbean Blue, on the edges of the canvas. I have also dripped some blue and purple mist here and there.

I have glued a Petaloo trim all around the canvas as a finishing touch.

For Mother

In Sweden, we celebrate Mother's Day on the last Sunday in May. I had a great day, spending time with my family. I made a card for my mother, using the fantastic Botanica flowers from Petaloo.
