Dad's Day Card

Hello Petaloo fans! It's Irene here. Today, I would like to share a Dad's Day card with you all. I've used the beautiful Maja Design pattern papers with gorgeous Petaloo flowers to create this card. I tried to keep the design of this card simple.

Below are some detail shots of this card.

It is so easy to create a beautiful cluster of flowers using these gorgeous Penny Lane blossoms.I've added more textures using some burlap pieces.

Mixed Media Father's Day Card

Hi everyone, Lynne here, and today I have a mixed media Father's Day card for you. Actually, it would also work very well as a Birthday Card.

Pretty rugged, isn't it?!! I decided to use more papers from Maja Design....love!!! And oh so perfect for this card. I added a lot of inking, and many layers, but I kept the background pretty simple.

The layers include a die cut Tim Holtz Weathered Clock, as well as a few chippies from Recollections. The variety of the base color, affected the look of the blue and brown mists I used. I also added a Prima Doily diecut from one of the papers. To get the weathered look on the edges of the papers and flowers, I misted onto my craft mat, and then dragged the papers and flowers through it. I thought I should mention, that I actually like the backside of the Timmy clock diecut better than the front, so I flipped it over.....bet you didn't notice!!!

The Petaloo Mixed Blossoms and Forget Me Nots in Robin's Egg Blue really pop with the addition of the brown mist.

The alphas are a mix of printed chippies from K&Company. The "D's" were originally green, which gave them a different shade of blue as well. To finish off the card, I added some metal gears.

With great sadness, this is my last post for Petaloo. It was such a great opportunity, honor and dream come true, to be on this awesome Design Team.  Thank you so much Cheryl and Jeff!!!!

Hello Petaloo fans! The weather is so nice in Spring and it is a great time to do a little reading during free time. Therefore, I've decided to create some Spring inspired bookmarks which will come in handy during my reading. To create these bookmarks, I've used pattern papers by Graphic 45 and some beautiful Darjeeling flowers by Petaloo.

Mother's Day Card

Hello Petaloo fans! It's Irene here. Today, I'm going to share with you all a simple Mother's Day card which I've created using some gorgeous Darjeeling flowers by Petaloo. I've used papers by Graphic 45 for this card.

I've chosen the green and pink theme to create this card for a feminine look. The vintage image in this collection is perfect for this card.

I've created a dimensional cluster of flowers using a combination of cream and pink blossoms.

Hope you all like this card and Happy Mother's Day to all mothers around the world.

DIY Bright, Cheery Cards for Mothers Day and Any Occasion

 

 DIY Bright, Cheery, Happy Cards

Jennifer Snyder here to share some cards.  After a long and dull, cold winter, I need a big dose of bold, bright, happy color.  Thus I set off to make myself happy.  Happiness is easy to achieve when I use my favorite  Petaloo products.

 

 

I created two cards using the same background stamp, just applying different colors and different coloring techniques to complete the project.  

 

My background stamp is from JustRite Papercraft and is great for experimenting with technique.  The large floral pattern is great for pairing with any Petaloo flower.    The possibilities are limitless. 

Below is a closer look at the Petaloo florals that adorn this card.

 

 

Here's How I made this

 

Step. 1 - I stamped the image onto " Specialty Stamping Paper for Inks"  using Clear Embossing Ink .   This helps provide a clear and crisp image.  I am not looking for a distressed image - I really am desiring a crisp clean image.   For this reason, I also did not choose to use distress embossing ink. 

 

Step. 2 -  I coated the specialty paper with clear  super fine embossing powder (white embossing powder works nicely as well).   Heat and set with a heat embossing tool/heat gun. 

 

Bonus Tip - With products like embossing powders, glitter and beads, I find that clean up is much easier when using a craft tray to help catch all the extra product.  I'm not really great at sweeping and vacuuming so I like to avoid that one task when possible. 

  

Step. 3 -  Pick some Distress inks and start blending.   I was able to blend gorgeous color combinations on the specialty stamping paper using various Distress Inks and blending tools.   

  

Step. 4 -  Moving on to the embellishing phase.   I die cut two decorative ovals and scored them at the center so they could be crisply folded and used as flaps to hide a surprise sentiment. 

 

 

Step. 5 -  Secure the decorative ovals  to the stamped card .  To do this, align the fold against the side of the card.  Once in place, they will act like "flaps" to hide a surprise sentiment when closed.  

 

Here is an image of the front and back of the card once the ovals are attached.  

 

Step. 6 -  Embellish as desired with coordinating and colorful Petaloo flowers.  After you are done embellishing, add a Velcro dot to each side of the flap so the card stays closed.  I purchased the Velcro dots in the notions section of a big box store. 

 

These are the gorgeous flowers I used:

Important Tip - as you add flowers, trims, bows and various embellishments to the flaps, make sure the flaps still open.  Do not make the mistake I made of gluing this and that to the flap without a care, then assume it will open like it should.  I was thankful my glue had not set up and could still move the products around.  phew!  

 

Here are a few more close shots to help understand and see the dimension of the card.  

Here is the sweet surprise you find once the card is opened.  The  "hello" sentiment is a die from JustRite PaperCraft  called "Hello Decorative Oval Frame".

This is my second card - made using the same background cling stamp from JustRite, called Succulent  but with a different technique applied  in coloring the background.

Just as in the first card, I  used Clear Embossing Ink  and Clear Super Fine Embossing Powder  but stamped on Cardstock  for Watercolors .   I did not use the specialty paper for stamping  which was used on the first card.  That specialty paper for stamping is not good to use with watercolor paints.  

 

 

 At that point, I cracked out my watercolors and water brush and had some fun.  I knew Petaloo flowers would be perfect matches for my watercolor choices.  

 

The flowers used on this card were:

Petaloo Darjeeling - Garden Rosette Mini- Purple 

Petaloo Penny Lane - Forget me nots - Robin Egg Blue 

Petaloo Penny Lane - Forget me nots - Purple (Soft Lavender) 

 There is a lot of color, movement and bold pattern happening on this card so I added some die cut circles to help provide a place for the eye to settle - an "anchor' for the eye.   The circles also help draw the eye to the Petaloo flowers.

Spring Inspired Card

Hello Petaloo fans! It's Irene here and for today's post, I'm sharing a card which is inspired by the beautiful Spring season. I've used some Petaloo Dahlias and petites in purples to decorate this card. I tried to keep the design of this card simple and elegant.

The shading on these flowers are just amazing! It creates a velvety look on it.

Cat Day at PET-aloo

It's Cat Day at PET-aloo 

Petaloo  is celebrating pet days. It's part of their nature after all...being a company named for pets... PET-aloo.  

 

   Jennifer Snyder here to share in the pet fun.  Yesterday I posted my dog cards.  Today the cats get their day in the spotlight.  I had to separate the two because if I didn't, I'd have tails and fur a'flyin.  Let's just say my cats aren't the best at sharing space with dogs. 

 

You can find the dog post right here, complete with a quick step-by-step for one of  the dog cards. 

 

This is a pop-up card I created for my husband.  I added gorgeous Petaloo flowers to the front of the card but left the inside unadorned because I wanted it to close flatly to surprise him.  This is the first pop-up card I have made so he was most certainly surprised.  

 

 

The front of this card features the
Petaloo Botanica Collection - Chantilly Mixed Blooms - Mauve.  Aren't they just spectacular?
I used a super old collection for this card - My Minds Eye - Lost & Found Collection.  

 

And look at all these darlin's staring at you. 

 

 

 

Here is my next card.  

This card features a new flower -Fairy Blossom Branch (code 5016-101).  They are sweet delicate velvet flowers with a little sparkle to them.  Look for them to ship  soon!

I also used the  Petaloo Textured Elements -  Briar Rose Canvas in Red  though I chose a flower with a bit more pink from the package. 

 

 

This is my next card.  Sweet and simple.  I let the Petaloo flowers and cat silhouettes stand out on this card.  The cat silhouettes were made using the Tim Holtz -Crazy Cats and Dogs dies and accompanying stamps. 

I punched some cats out and really loved the negative space creating a delightful silhouette. 

The soft Petaloo flowers on this card include  the newly released -Fairy Blossom Branch  (code 5016-101), the green flowers from the package of  Petaloo Chantilly Hydrangea in Red  and some delicate Petaloo lace trim, Petaloo Crochet Lace Fancy Trim -White .

 I used the Petaloo Crochet Lace Fancy Trim -White as a border strip.  

This is the last card and a simple but graphically fun card.  It's a shaker card with  washi tape used as a background. This card also has the Petaloo Crochet Lace Fancy Trim  used as a border.  

I decided to use some of Petaloo's Jeweled Florettes in pastel colors - they are flat flowers that resemble the flowers on the patterned paper.  

I felt the shaker card was bulky enough to send through the mail - the flat flowers were a great alternative and still added a bedazzled element to the card.

The Dogs Have IT!  It's Dog Day at Petaloo 

Petaloo is celebrating pet days.   Now to avoid fur-balls flying in the air, I decided to post my cat and dog cards on separate days.  In my house, the cats will not put up with any dog shenanigans.  Yes I know that many households around the world have dogs and cats living in blissful harmony.  That's just not the situation at my house.

 

My cats may not love dogs, but I certainly do.  So to get even, I am posting the dog cards first.  Cats have to wait their turn and are featured tomorrow.  

 

I had so much fun that I created a variety of cards and even a quick step-by-step for one of them. 

This little pup is my first card.  I used a few sizzix dies by Tim Holtz for my cards.  This one uses the negative space from the die.  I thought it made a lovely silhouette. 

 

 The Petaloo Botanica Baby Blooms  in Purple  are so striking with the purple/blue of my paper - which is   Doodlebug Design Puppy Love.

This is my second card with a tiny DIY step-by-step.  

Before I move on to the DIY instructions, I will tell you a little about the card.  

The papers are once again Doodlebug Design Puppy Love as is the teal and brown "Woof" washi tape. 

The flowers I chose for this card were Petaloo Chantilly Hydrangea in Red.

The red and brown hydrangea's looked marvelous with my crazy brown pup. 

Here are my simple DIY steps: 
Die or punch your choice of cardstock or patterned paper. 

Cover  a plain piece of cardstock with washi tape.  

Place the die cut over the washi tape...and continue on with your embellished elements. 

It's THAT EASY!

 

The words on this card make me laugh.  "Ruff Day?" Way too darling.  This puppy is waiting to cheer you up. 

This little card has a sweet Petaloo Butterfly from the Darjeeling Teastained collection in blue as well as Petaloo Teastained Dahlias in Blue

 

My last card of the day is the only card that doesn't use Doodlebug's Puppy Love collection.  

This is Graphic 45 Botanicabella Collection - full of warm browns and oranges.  

I thought it would be perfect for the negative image of the Crazy Dogs die ( Sizzix and Tim Holtz).

I used the Petaloo Chantilly Hydrangea Red  in this card as well, but focused on the green and brown flowers in that package - I used the red flowers on my first card above.
