Sparkly Floral Crowns

I found some simple wooden crown cut outs at Michaels. They have a little stick to hold the crown shape above your head during photographs or when meeting crown worthy dignitaries all the while preventing unsightly 'crown head' hair.

I thought the shapes were cute and a great kids project. After all, even if you can't find these wooden cutouts at your local craft store, it would be easy enough to create your very own from some cardboard and a bit of doweling. They would make a totally adorable "make and take" for birthday parties.

I began by painting all of the pieces white, then sploshing some paint on them. Sploshing doesn't require being neat or tidy so it is perfectly appropriate for little hands. Eat a cookie or fresh fruit salad and wait for that sploshing to dry before adding some glitter (Tip: good quality glue will help avoid glitter from loosening). For this crown I've added Fancy Trims along the bottom edge and a coordinating Teal Burlap Blossom

For this crown I've used a DIY-Mum which you can colour to match your project. (Note: I coloured this blossom with watercolour paint then dipped it in tea to soften the colour) Then I added a length of tulle to gussy up the handle.

Those DIY blooms are pretty amazing and colouring them could be a fun project for kiddos in and of itself.

My final crown has some Crochet Lace Trim, Burlap Daisy Layers and Flowers in Pistashio and topped with Embellishment Brads in Shades of Green.

Working with kids can be a lot of fun and there are many ways to include them in crafting. Let them make decisions about colour and trims. Let them do the sploshing. You can set limits if you like "Let's pic three flowers to add" but let them have some control. Be sure to have those little people help clean up afterwards too.

So get out there and make some crowns with your littles. And don't forget the tea party photo shoot afterwards.

Fun Hair Clips ~ KIDS Summer CRAFTS

Hello Petaloo fans! Today I'm sharing with you another fun project that you can do with your kids especially with the girls. My daughter has always wanted some fun handmade hair accessories that she can wear to parties. With that, we've created some fun top hat hair clips together. Petaloo beautiful glittered flowers are perfect for this.

 

 

It is so easy to decorate these mini top hats using the flowers and feathers. Hope you all like it!

Party Favors Boxes

Hello everyone! Today I'm sharing with you all a project which I've done with my kids. There are always tons of parties being held during the summer and pre-made party favors boxes can come in very handy. My kids had tons of fun putting together these cute little boxes. To jazz it up, we've added gorgeous Petaloo flower layers on each of the box.

This is a super simple project that you can have tons of fun with your kids.

Sweet and simple Petaloo crown

 Summer Crafting with KIDS...

 NICHOLA BATTILANA

I love crafting with kids! They are a lot of fun to work with and sometimes they come up with the most brilliant ideas. Plus, in general, kids love glue as much as I do :)

For this sweet summer crown I've simply taken a length of wide Crochet Lace Fancy Trim and glued on loads of pretty bright Petaloo Floradoodles and Velvet Butterflies. (Tip: Work on top of a length of waxed paper to avoid sticking.) Once dried I secured the ends. Easy peasy!

You can speed things along with hot glue... just be careful of little fingers! (Pssst, if you're in a pickle you can always use a length of paper as the base instead.)

How much fun would this be to wear to garden party or summer picknic? I think I'll make another fit just for me :)

Hi there everyone!!I am beyond excited to be Guest Designing for Petaloo and the Doodlebug "Birthday Week" Blog Hop...it really is a dream come true!!

 

I immediately feel in love with the colors of the Doodlebug Sugar Shoppe Collection and the beautiful Petaloo flowers were a perfect match.

 It just isn't a Birthday unless you have a cake and cupcakes for that sugar rush!!

So first up is the cake.....

This was soooo much fun to make!!! 

The papers, flowers and trims all came together so easily to make this yummy cake. I made lots of rolled roses from the Sugar Shoppe papers to accent the gorgeous Petaloo Botanical flowers.

Aren't these Sugar Shoppe Embellishments cute!

I made the "icing" using molding paste, glitter, and beads and mists and it has so much sparkle in real life. I hope you can see it a little better in this photo!

Next up is a cupcake...

 

 

I made the liner from the Sugar Shoppe papers and stickers and cut the Petaloo Velvet Hydrangeas(Cream & Geranium) in half to form the layers of my cupcake. I once again added the icing and a few beads for sprinkles!

So in keeping with the theme, whats a birthday without a card!!

 

 I kept it simple letting the gorgeous flower cluster be the focus with just a few splatters of mist to top it off!

This summer I'm planning a Mad Hatter's Tea so Petaloo's "It's Your Birthday" Birthday Week provided the perfect excuse to start making fun accessories!

I've created several fun little Mad Hatter hats and a 'This way / That way' sign post.

To create the sign I embellished a small piece of dowling with washi tape, affixed the small arrows, and then placed it in an old teacup. There's a few cute little sticks and embellishments from doodlebug in there too :)

The base of the post is decorated with dried moss and pretty, sparkly, Velvet Hydrangeas... LOVE, love, love the Fuschia!

The hats are constructed of paper from the "Sugar Shoppe" paper collection from Doodlebug Designs.

The little pom-pom trims from Petaloo's Fancy Trims are absoluletly perfect for finishing off those edges!

And how much fun are those sparkly Glitz trims?!!

I am certain the Hatter himself would approve of a hat the colour of orange sherbet :)

I had such a great time creating these pieces. The "Sugar Shoppe" papers from Doodlebug Designs paired perfectly with the always outstanding and oh-so-fun products from Petaloo.

Hi there, this is Eva sharing some more fun Birthday projects!  Hope you are enjoying the celebration with the super fun Doodlebug and Petaloo products and projects we are sharing!  I used Doodlebug's Sugar Shoppe collection for my work.

Today I have three cards and all three were cut out using my Cameo machine.  Two of them are the same, but in different sizes and different papers and one is an adorable dress shaped card.  You can see my little ensemble here.

 

Let me show off my little dress shaped card first, which I cut out of the pretty flower patterned paper and I added a pretty Botanica Mini in teal color.  I added a circle shaped sticker and I die cut the Happy Birthday sentiment. I also added a pretty lacy punched border to the edge of the dress.

 

My next card is using another fun Cameo die cut, and I added a fun birthday cake sticker and Petaloo's Botanica Blooms and minis in teal, yellow and pink and also also used a pink trim.

 

Here is a closeup of my pretty flowers.

 

Here is my last card using the same die cut, but it's smaller, so I used the Botanica minis in teal, pink and yellow.  I also added a few of the little stickers from the paper collection.

Hey there everyone, thanks for stopping by today. I have a fun project to share with you today using lots of amazing Petaloo goodies! Along with the wonderful Petaloo product we were sent this month Chery also sent us the super cute Doodlebug Sugar Shoppe collection.....simply perfect for birthday creations!! I love to alter things, and I thought this gift box would be perfect to place a birthday gift in for someone. I found this paper mache box at the dollar store and knew it would be the perfect way to give a gift. I painted the edges of the box using Art Anthology Velvet Dimensional Paint (Myan Gold), once that was dry it was time to add the paper to the box. I cut all of the pieces, inked the edges with Ranger Distress Ink (Walnut Stain), ran the pieces through my Xyron 5" Creative Station and started layering!

 

You can see the top of the box a little in the photo below. The Doodlebug Sugar Shoppe came with these fun enamel dots and little straw and banner pieces. I grabbed my Xyron liquid glue and started placing the flowers to the lid, then I placed glue around the end of the straws and stuck them in between the flowers.

Here is a better view of the top of the box!!! I simply adore this project and don't want to give it away, it's so bright and fun!!
