Wintery Fun ~ Tammy

Hello everyone! Hope your New Year is off to a great start!! I have a fun card to share with you today using Petaloo blooms, G45 "Children's Hour" collection and some of my fave chippies from Creative Embellishments!

It's easy as pie to put together projects, when everything coordinates perfectly! With Petaloo and Graphic 45 that is sooo the case! They match to the T! So half the battle of creating is over. The rest is a idea of what you want to create. I created a little wintery fun with a card. Not just any ole card I made my first easel card! I usually make bifold cards. But I really wanted to give a easel card a go. It was easy and fun to create! Plus more room to decorate too!! Win win in my book!! Here is my card..

 I used the yummy Botanica sugared bloom in royal blue, Botanica sugared minis in royal blue, Vintage Velvets in teal and Vintage Velvet Hydrangeas. These was so perfect to use with the January papers from the "Children's Hour" Collection by G45. I used a snowman stamp that I have had for A VERY LONG TIME! LOL I stamped some of the papers, to cut out, and piece together to make hat, gloves, and scarf for him. Then painted my snowflake chippies up to help create a wintry scene for him. All the blooms I added a touch of gesso and 13 Arts white glitter paint to go along with my wintery feel. Here are a couple of close ups..

Sooo much fun layering and creating this wintry fun scene!! I think I really like easel cards!!

 Let's get the fun started with Christmas TAGS from DT member Shellye McDaniel

Hello!  Shellye here with some fun tags featuring a few of pieces from Simple Stories' "Claus & Co." Collection and various florals and trim from Petaloo! 

I started with three of the Interactive Elements and layered them onto larger mats of 4X6 journal cards and patterned paper. 

The first tag includes the "matchbook" interactive piece.  The red Tinsel Trim was glued to around the back edge of the book before it was attached to the journal card.  To the bottom of the book, a cluster of pine cones, sugared blooms and textured pieces were added.

The second tag includes the pull-out pocket and tag as the focal point.  One of the cardstock stickers from the Collection Kit was attached at the top.  The tag was further embellished with a small bow of red metallic cording and two of the red Burlap Poinsettias. 

The final tag features the tri-fold interactive that was trimmed with a piece of red ric rac at te bottom.  The Pine Cone Pick w/ Berries was taken apart; the greenery was glued in place followed by one of the green textured layers.  The berries were snipped from the wire and glued to the center of the flower with fabric glue.  A large metallic bow and sticker sentiment completes the tag.

The tags can be added to gift baskets, bags or packages and then used for an ornament by the recipient.  These were so quick and fun to put together!

Thank you for joining us and celebrating Valentines Day with us ...

 

 

I created four coupon/gift card pockets from standard coin envelopes and decorated them with a collection of Vintage Valentine Dazzlers, florals and a mix of buttons and other Petaloo pieces.  

 

 

 

To start, I clipped the closure flap from the envelope (but it can be left in place). 

 

Next, I chose four different embossing folders and embossed each envelope in a pretty pattern.  One each of the four designs from the "Be Mine" Vintage Dazzlers were used in decorating the fronts of the envelopes and then embellished with different blooms & berries  from the Botanica & Chantilly Collections.

 

 

 

In finishing, two small holes were punched into the top of each envelope and then strung with a piece of wire for hanging.  A vintage style metal tag was added and personalized with recipients' names.

 

 

 

 

The Velvet Hydrangeas are also a wonderful flower to mix with the Vintage Valentine Dazzlers! (plus, they come with velvet leaves too!) 

 

 

 

 

You can fill these envelopes with candy or a gift card or use them as decorations.   But most importantly ... they are a sweet way to remember someone special on Valentines Day...

Guest Designer ~ Peggy Lee Baker Christmas Altered Mailbox

Hi everyone it's Peggy Lee here, I am over the moon excited to be on the Petaloo blog this week as a guest designer! Yes it's a Christmas wish come true, oh how I love Petaloo flowers and trims...a special thank you to Petaloo for having me celebrate Christmas week with you!! I first want share with you all my Christmas Altered Mailbox that will make a great Holiday centerpiece on a table and can double as a gift!

"Christmas Altered Mailbox"

 

I created my altered mailbox featuring both Petaloo & Graphic 45 "Twas The Night Before Christmas" Collection. Love how bright and cherry this collection is with a vintage twist with a beautiful pop of color with the flowers. Christmas brings such "JOY"

"Tutorial-Altered Mailbox"

Step 1-Remove any loose paper from box, using sand paper or block to rough up the smooth paper that comes on box. This will give the glue and paper tooth to get a good seal.

Step 2-Make any templates you will need to trace on your paper you pick out. Cut out.

Step 3-Paint your pieces of box that may show, I used gesso white primer. Using your favorite adhesive I used gel medium with a paint brush, use your fingure or bone folder to help smooth the paper on the box. 

Step 4-To give my paper a shabby vintage feel, I rough (distress) my edges of paper with a edge distress tool. Then using the gesso primer I lightly brush it on the edges of papers...I feel it's a softer shabby look!!! I love it!

 

Step 5-Gather your favorite supplies...here is my FAVES Petaloo flowers and trims, Graphic 45 "Twas The Night Before Christmas" papers, tags, pockets, chipboard pieces. As well as chipboard die cuts, vintage buttons, pine cones, and a fluffy owl. Now the fun begins.....embellishing!

 

 

After tackling these simple steps, I started to embellish my mailbox and this is the fun part. I have gathered many photos here for you to gaze upon and be inspired, there is alot of details in this altered mailbox. From flowers tucked here and there to little scenes created inside and out to capture your interest! Enjoy. 

 

I found both the mailbox and fluffy white owl at my local dollar store. So when I got my guest designer box of goodies I knew I had to create a Christmas mailbox for Santa letters to go...an winter white owl's home adorn with Holiday Cheer!

 

I loved tucking in the paper cut outs and chip board pieces around the mailbox, I created a side pocket to tuck in the post cards, tags and vintage dazzlers images. Whats great about this paper line is you can fussy cut out images for your own embellishments. 

 

I love the mix of reds, creams and touches of greens in the Petaloo flowers.....mixed with my vintage mother of pearl buttons and collected pine cones.

Let's peek inside...see Santa decorating the Christmas tree while the stockings are hanging on the fireplace....great use of the post cards that I cut out of the paper collection.

Guest Designer ~ Tammy Henderson Authentique Believe Christmas Cards

 Hi everyone! I am so thrilled to be up on the Petaloo blog this week as a guest designer!! I LOVE FLOWERS!! Petaloo is a total FAVE for me, so this is a total scrappy dream come true! Special thank you to Petaloo for having me! I have a couple of projects to share with you today featuring both Petaloo and Authentique's "Believe" collection. So much Christmas FUN! Here are my cards.

 

 


  Love the blues and red in this collection. It wouldn't be hard at all to get lost for hours making delightful Christmas cards for your friends or loved ones with these 2 teamed up. Here is a close up of the Blue Card..

 

 This was my first time playing with Petaloo's Vintage Dazzlers. I must say I have been missing out! They sparkle, shine and are beautifully layered! The whole card is made using "Believe" collection 6x6 paper pad with the exception of the title and that came from the die cut sheet from the 12 x 12 "Believe" collection kit. I teamed this card up with Petaloo's sweet little "Forget me nots" in Robin Egg Blue, "Botanica" collection in Red and "Mixed Textured Blossoms in Moss Green. Very easy layered and fun to make. Next up my red card..

 

 This one just pops out and says Merry Christmas! I used another gorgeous Vintage Dazzler along with the "Believe" cardmaking stack, with a couple of pieces from the 12x12 collection kit as well. I just loved the pops of red in the Vintage Dazzler and used her as my inspo pieces to make shine. She is surrounded with Petaloo's "Faux Dried Flora Alephemera"in red from the Botanica collection and a sweet little Darjeeling Mini Mix in Teastaine Red. I lightly kissed the flowers with some gesso to give that wintery feel. So much fun to make!!

Graphic 45 ~ Present Toppers

 

 

I've created this little set of doo-dads with Graphic 45's Twas the Night Before Christmas and Petaloo's "Victorian Children" Vintage Dazzlers. They would look adorable with a bit of string as ornaments, but I will be using these to embellish my holiday gift wrap.

 

Making these was oh so simple too! Simply cut narrow lengths of paper and acordian fold them. Fan them out to create the round shape, using hot glue to hold in place. For the 'star' effect I simply clipped a folded corner on an angle... as you would a paper snowflake.

A Graphic 45 tag, a Botanica Berry cluster and a Burlap Trim bow and it's ready to gussy up a gift!

While it's fun to add a bazillion blooms to projects, sometimes just one or two little flowers is all you need.

I really do like how cheery and festive these are and I think they'll be a big hit with the people on my holiday list :)

Hi everyone, Denis Hahn here and I have been wanting to make a scrapbook of my families Thanksgiving recipes forever. When I got Authentiques "Grafteful" Collection kit to play with, I knew it would make the perfect little recipe keeper. I bound it with wooden spoons and bakers twine. The pages are actually little folders. I made them by cutting a 12x12 sheet of paper to 9x12, then folded up three inches, creating 3 pages that were 6x12 inch- Then just fold those in half and you have three pocket folder pages. I wrote my recipes on manila tags, with ingredients on front and directions on back. I used a Petaloo Vintage Dazzler on the fornt cover and then loaded it up with flowers. What a great memento and it would make an even greater gift for family memebers.

Hi everyone Denise here with a fun and easy little money holder for your back-to-schoolers! What a great way to make sure your kid takes their money for school, or even just to sneak a little note of encouragement in their lunch! This project is great for everyday gifts too as they are the perfect size for gift cards for Teachers or Birthday presents. I used my favorite technique with my Coredinations paper; emboss and sand.
