Hello, Friends!  I'm back again today to share another Petaloo Pets project with you.  Yesterday I shared a shabby chic folio for your favorite pooch, but today it's all about CATS!  Once again, I've paired gorgeous Petaloo flowers with images and papers from Authentique's "Devoted" collection. 

I found this 7" x 6" book board binder album in the Closet of Shame while straightening up my stash.  I altered the cover by adding patterned papers and a canvas spine for extra texture.  The end result is this sweet little album that is just loaded with shabby chic touches. 

Every shabby chic project needs to be adorned with beautiful flowers.  I had such a good time dressing this album up with Petaloo mini wild roses, Forget-me-nots, and burlap blossoms.  I'll provide product links at the end of this post.

One really fun feature is this framed image inside a cluster of buttons.  The frame is actually a large button!  I just punched out a vintage image to fit the button interior, glued the image in place and then filled the button with Glossy Accents to create a unique vintage embellishment for the album.

The album came with a ring binder mechanism.  I created different sized/shaped pages to create a staggered effect. 

 

The pretty shabby chic frame was altered with paints and seed beads. I added a glass bead to the burlap butterfly body to make it pop in the layout.

I added this canvas spine with Scor-Tape to add texture and to amp up the shabby chic vibe.

Here's a peek inside the album.  Pockets were added to each cover for even more photo storage.  The staggered pages give the album a playful, whimsical feel. Because I find it hard to get a real sense of the flow of an album with still photos, I created a YouTube video tour for you.  In it, I share lots of tips and tricks for using scraps, creating custom embellishments and getting the most out of your papers.  I hope you enjoy!

Hello, Friends!  Are you enjoying the Petaloo Pets theme? I have a really fun little folio to share with you today.  It's fairly quick to pull together (a day or less) and is built in a style that lends itself to display in your home or office.  I used lots of pretty Petaloo posies along with Authentique's "Devoted" paper collection to make this shabby chic All You Need is Love...and a Dog folio.

The folio is made from  a 5" x 7" card base with a 1/4" spine.  This is an easy adaptation.  When you are building your card base, score at both 7" and 7 1/4".  Now you have a dimensional base that you can fill with all kinds of little photo mounts and pull outs. 

The Authentique papers have a wonderful vintage/shabby chic feel to them.  I emphasized this by adding Petaloo Spice Anemones, Blue Forget me Nots, and Ivory Textured blossoms.  After layering up the images and patterns on the cover, I spattered them with a little diluted black paint to amp up the shabby/vintage vibe.

Here's a peek inside the folio.  I find it's always hard to grasp the "flow" of a project like this with still photos, so I've prepared a YouTube video tour for you. I share lots of good tips and ideas for creating folios in this video.  I hope you enjoy!

Christmas Tradition Layout

Hello everyone! Time really flies and in a few days time, we will be celebrating the New Year! For today's project, I would like to share with you all a layout on a tradition in our family. Every year, each of my kids will get to decorate a small Christmas tree all by themselves for Christmas.

For this layout, I've used tons of beautiful flowers by Petaloo and the Classic Christmas collection by Authentique. Here are some details on it.

Cookies and Milk for Santa Recipe Folio

Hello, Friends!  Here we are in full Christmas countdown mode.  In a day or two, I will close the studio door, turn on the oven and begin our family's favorite Christmas tradition: Christmas Cookies!  I love to bake almost as much as I love to play with paper, so it's a very fun time for me.  The kids and neighbors love the cookies, and Santa does, too!  So I've created a little Cookies and Milk for Santa Recipe folio using Authentique's fun and festive Retro Christmas Collection.

Don't you just love these great retro patterns paired up with Petaloo Berries/Pine Branches, Darjeeling Mini Poinsettia and Vintage Velvet Holly Leaves? 

I tapped a little grit paste onto the pine cones, berries and poinsettia to add even more texture and wintry fun. 

 

The inside has both a pocket and a gatefold album that opens out accordion style. I had such fun making this banner with the stickers that come in the collection.

I used cardstock to create little recipe cards for the pocket.  Adding a punched border to the belly bands really made the papers pop.  The recipe card just slides out from under the belly band.  There is an additional recipe card glued to the back.  Now, all my favorite cookie recipes will be easy to find!

The top half of the folio has this fun little accordion album.  Just untie the ribbon and fold the pages out.

There are 12 small panels for photos and one large panel. 

I love to use the scraps on my worktable to make little cards or tags.  This cutie patootie Santa tag will really dress up a plate of cookies!  Once again, I tapped the Regal Gold Poinsettia with grit paste to resemble snow.  The green glitter stars are perfect playmates for this Retro Santa Tag.

Now that my kids are all grown and on their own, I enjoy doing holiday baking with our granddaughters.  It's such a privilege to pass this sweet tradition on to another generation.  So I'm off to find my apron, preheat the oven and get the holiday started!

Welcome to the Christmas Blog Hop with Authentique and Petaloo

 

  I'm Jennifer Snyder, and I chose to create with the Authentique Classic Christmas collection.  I was drawn to the sweet prints and gorgeously classic patterns.   I also know that the Petaloo flowers I selected for my project were absolutely perfect accents.  What a fun pairing.

 

I created a home decor piece with an accompanying card.   The wooden tree form was purchased at a big box craft store.  My job was to gussy it up.   Below is the table top festive tree decorated with strips of Classic Christmas 6x6 paper  and embellished with some holiday releases from Petaloo:

The image below features a flower collection that isn't traditionally a holiday release.  The  Petaloo Botanica Vintage Velvet Dogwood in Red  and by simply adding   Petaloo Vintage Velvet Holly Leaves , it's instantly transformed into a Christmas flower.

 

I do love how you can combination everyday Petaloo flowers thoughtfully and have them look perfect for a holiday card, project, gift or layout -endless possibilities.  

 

 

Here's a close up of the main floral cluster featuring the Petaloo Flowers - Pine Pick w/Cones and Berries , Petaloo Vintage Velvet Holly Leaves  and Petaloo Red Burlap Textured Poinsettia  once again.  I added a sweet little ephermera to the cluster from the Authentique paper collection.

 

  

 

 

 

This is the matching card I made for a gift set.  I used the same papers and the same Petaloo flowers for a cohesive look.   The wonderful patterns of the paper are so much fun to use.

Hello, Friends!  Kathy here with another holiday project for the Petaloo/Authentique Holiday Blog Hop.  All this week the Petaloo designers have teamed up with the fine folk at Authentique to share ideas for holiday gifts, cards and tags.  I'm crushing on Authentique's gorgeous Classic Christmas collection. The vintage images and elegant patterns inspired me to get my craft on.  While rummaging in the Closet of Shame, I found a wooden sled that I'd picked up at a yard sale a while back.  It was dark brown and very plain.  A few mixed media techniques, pretty papers and lovely Petaloo blooms completely transformed it. Now it's ready to go dashing through the snow with Jolly Old Saint Nick.

I began the transformation by brushing a light coat of white gesso all over the sled surface.  This was followed by a fairly thick (and random) coat of DecoArt Crackle Texture Medium.  I wanted to create a snow covered appearance for the sled.  I dusted on Perfect Pearls Medium in both Pearly White and Antique Gold to add some shimmer and to enhance the crackled surface.  I just love the way it turned out!

After distressing the gorgeous Authentique papers, I layered them up to create a sweet Christmas Vignette.  The icing on top are these glorious Petaloo holiday blooms.  This would make a wonderful Christmas gift under the tree, dontcha think?

While I had my Elf hat on, I decided to create a small Christmas wreath using a foam core from Floracraft.  This is one of those "quick and easy" holiday projects that we all love.  It was sooo easy!  I just wrapped wired ribbon and trim around the wreath base and added beautiful white Petaloo Poinsettia, Sugared Berry Clusters, Velvet Holly Leaves and ribbon.  As a finishing touch, I added the lovely sentiment tag from Classic Christmas along with a tiny image from the 6x6 paper pad. 

And what is Christmas without Christmas cards? Classic Christmas is overflowing with gorgeous images like this one. I treated the image with UTEE to make it look like old glass.  Antique Gold Ribbon, an altered Idea-Ology deer, frosty jingle bells,  and beautiful florals make this card one that will go in the "keep" pile for sure!

To make this fancy flower, I layered a Briar Canvas Rose from the Holiday Mix on top of a white poinsettia, then added a pearl to the center. 

Gift cards are such a popular thing now, so I created a special little gift card envelope that slips behind the belly band on the left hand side of the card.  I used the stickers from Classic Christmas to spell out a greeting, and tucked a chocolate inside the envelope.  I love it when a card does double duty as a gift, don't you?

I hope I've shared some ideas for holiday gifts and cards that inspire your creativity.  I think handmade holidays are the best!

I am loving Authentique's Classic Christmas collection that I used to make this tri-fold gift card holder.  I wanted a really special card to hold the gift card so I made it big,   It's 4" x 9" when tri-folded.

 

 

I don't usually get all crazy with the glitter and Stickles, EXCEPT at Christmas time and then I go kinda nuts.  I just love for everything to be all sparkly this time of year!  I used Petaloo poinsettias that had gold glittered tips and added more.  First I streaked on some white paint to give a snowy appearance and then added diamond Stickles to the flowers and crystal stickles to the holly leaves.  Love that effect!

 

I layered up some of the pretty patterns from the collection and added a couple fussy cut pieces to decorate the front of my card.

Inside I created a pocket from a couple of diecuts so that I could slip in a gift card.   I love the cut-aparts that come in this collection and used them to embellish the inside.
