Decorative Gift Boxes Made Perfect with Petaloo

I received my first box of "See's Chocolates"  last Christmas from Petaloo, all the way from California.    Let me tell ya....wowzers.  What quality - what deliciousness - and what a chocolaty secret to keep from my family.    My husband will snatch up candy from the counter quicker than one can blink.  I can't have that.  Then I have my kids to contend with and fight off.  Nope can't have that either.

Sorry - no way could I possibly divulge this gift to my family.  So I did the only reasonable thing a responsible mom and loving wife could do - I hid the box and ate them all.  Yes - EVERY heavenly melty wonderful piece of chocolate.

 The box was all that remained from that sensational chocolate memory saved from last Christmas.
 I tucked the empty box in my stash as if it had always been just an empty box.
BUT  now I can enjoy it again and gussy it up!!! (ahhhhh stills smells like chocolate too.)

  

 

To do this, I gathered up a few of my favorite products and set to work.   Flowers from Petaloo by Floracraft.  Dies from Spellbinders.  Papers from Maja Design in Sweden
 the gorgeous collection called Life in the Country.

 

Next of course - come flowers as decorative toppers.

 I added paper to the inside of the box as well.  Helps cover up the fact that I actually ate a whole box of chocolates.  Chocolates?  What chocolates.  Not me!  hahahaa

With a heavy heart, I have to say this is my last post for Petaloo, I want to put a big thank you out there to Jeff and Cheryl for giving me this opportunity and trusting in me to showcase their product, Their kindness and caring is over the top. Thank you so much for your friendships. Not a good bye but a see you later. 

I want to thank the followers, consumers  and supports of Petaloo and the rest of the Design Team, for your support,  compassion and kind words. 

 

I have a fun altered tin and card made especially for dad! You cant go wrong with rust, gears and steampunk. The tin is to hold all of Daddy's sweet treats.

 Because Brown is not a favorable colour for flowers, sometimes you just have to make them yourself. I used the Dajeerling Teastained   for the larger flowers and sprayed them golden yellow, with the Mini Mix I simply ink distressed them for the grunge look.

For the tin I used a rust technique to grunge it up and added the flowers and metal embellishments.

So the kids and I will fill this with daddy's favorite sweet treats and leave the extras close so he can finish those off as well. (A sweet tooth in denial)

My project is an altered Butterfly cage made with the softness of the vintage spring collection.

I detail cut almost the whole page of butterflies from the paper, not knowing how many would be enough, after I matched them front and back I added them to wire to make them look like they were flying within the cage.

I even had some escape from the cage, but as most butterflies are attracted to flowers, I used the Penny Lane blossoms to keep them where they should be.

Adding the effect of moss and grass I added some mushrooms and more mini petite daisy along with the mixed blossoms to the floor of the cage, making it a cozy little home.

 

Using a layer of paper on the background I added some subtle texture with a stencil.

Spring Tea Box

Hi everyone!!

This was a simple wood box...but by adding a little paint and these amazing Petaloo flowers...

my Tea Box look so awesome!!!

I adore these anemones.......so gorgeous!!

and these colors are just perfect!!

So fun to make this project!!

Spring Birdhouse Shadow Box by Ginny

Hey Peeps I'm dropping in to share a sweet little shadow box that I created with charming little bird houses and loads of spring flowers.

This stand alone shadow box would look just perfect with an Easter bunny but can be displayed all season long as it's not too " Eastery".

This little chipboard shadow box is deep enough to adhere the birdhouses inside at different depths for a nice dimensional look. I've painted it in a gorgeous spring green  to show off the flourishes and birdhouses.

I've selected blooms in bright cheerful colors and created a nice balance by adding some to the top and bottom of the shadowbox.

I've chosen a nice selection of pinks, green and white flowers and tucked in some speckled eggs. The birdhouse in the back also has a sweet little nest to welcome birds and make them feel at home.

To add a bit of softness to the hard edge of the roof line I incorporated some cheesecloth. It also helps to fill in the arrangement.

Maggi's Treasure Box

 

I love boxes in all sizes and shapes.  It pains me to throw them away and I have a big closet full of boxes in all sizes and shapes to support my box addiction!  Just imagine how happy Mom or any gal would be to receive a special gift encased in this box.

 

 

This is a new Graphic 45 Staples Deep Rectangle Matchbook Box that I covered with Graphic 45's Portrait of a Lady collection and embellished with Petaloo's Botanica blooms. These coral blooms are so pretty with these papers.

 

I used dimensional foam tape to pop up layers on the top of the box.  Notice how in the upper left corner I nestleds my Petaloo blooms over printed flowers in the design paper.  This helps to give the printed flowers the illusion of dept and makes the floral cluster appear larger.

 

I also added some Cheery Lynn Designs flourishes to my floral clusters, I think they add a special touch to my clusters.

 

 

I kept the sides simple letting the top have all the glory! You know, sometimes less is more, right?  I used some fun drawer pulls on either end of the box to make it more functional.

 

 

Don't you love how the flowers cascade over the side?  The inside drawer is also covered; however,  I did not cover the drawer on the outside so that it would easily slide in and out of the box.

Hi everyone!! Lynne here, and today I have another spring time project for you. Well, this project would work year round, but the flowers scream spring!

Seeing these boys together, makes me smile. They are the very best of buddies, hence the title. I've had this 7 Gypsies Artist Tray in my stash for too long, begging to be altered. But I was waiting for the right combination of pictures, flowers and papers to inspire me. First thing it needed was a paint job; so gesso to the rescue, followed by a good coat of white paint. I then sanded the edges, and used a fan brush and some taupe colored paint to add a rustic touch. 

Don't you just love the new Petaloo Flowers?! The Mini Garden Rosettes are so gorgeous!! But, I have to admit that the Anemones, are my absolute faves!!! They make my heart swoon!! 

I was going to give the Creative Embellishments chippies, a coat of white paint, but while I was playing with placement, it occurred to me that leaving them bare, really highlighted every other element in my piece, while picking up on the colors in the handmade quilt behind the boys. And, it makes the chippies stand out even more. Sometimes, you just have to leave things naked!

 Here's a view of the focal cluster, from the other side. The green and teal flowers are a perfect combination. I used both of the flourishes from the Vintage Flourish #3 set, and laid them on end, with opposing sides facing. Then I added the leaves from the Acorn Cluster, under my flowers. I think my taste in colors and color combinations are evolving, because normally I wouldn't mix white and cream together, but it worked beautifully here.

Look at that flower!! There is so much detail in the pistil....love, love, love!! And I couldn't resist adding a few mini butterflies here and there.

Well Helllloooooo there Peeps!  It's my day to share the project I created for the Petaloo~Creative Embellishments Blog Hop. I'm very excited because it's like for Mom....and Mom's are the best! My inspiration was a Mother's Day Tea.

I chose some of my favorite flowers from Petaloo then altered the chippies to coordinate.

I gave the Ferns a base coat of white paint the dabbed on a few green inks to get mottled effect.  They really help to extend and anchor the flower arrangement.

There are smaller flourishes on top of the wreath that are finished simply with flat white acrylic paint.

I wanted this wreath to look a bit like a grapevine with foliage so I painted the circle in brown and the leaves in various colors of green.  This creates a nice frame for the tea pot.

I incorporated many shades of blues in the flower selection along with berries and a bit of burlap for texture.

How fun to team up with Creative Embellishments (CE)  to bring you a week of Mother's Day fabulous projects using Petaloo flowers and Creative Embellishments chipboard.  It doesn't get much better than that as far as I am concerned!

 

I chose to honor a "different" kinda Mom, but still a Mom.  For so many of us, myself included, our furbabies are our children and we are their Moms.  My furbabies know that I am Mom and if my husband tells my dogs that "Mom's home", they go running to the back door.  I adore this photo of dog Mom,  Maria Cole and her sweet dog Archie.  The look that is passing between them is so special.  It really illustrates the bond between dogs and their human parents.

 

I love to layer chipboard vines and flourishes underneath my Petaloo blooms, that is such a great look.  I colored my chippies with some gold mist and then lightly dry brushed white paint onto the chippies and the flowers.  Petaloo's Darjeeling Blooms are perfect for painting and misting as they are a nice heavy weight paper flower.

I used Petaloo Darjeeling blooms on my layout, they are some of my favorites.  I've used dahlias, rosetes and little minis along with a couple butterflies, all from the Darjeeling collection. 

 

In addition to chipboard, Creative Embellishments sells masks, wood veneers and stamps. I used a CE pawprint mask on the background of this layout, its just the touch I wanted.
