Off To The Races Address Book

Hi everyone!! Lynne here, and today I have an address book for you. I actually had this book in my stash, and as soon as I pulled it out, I knew it would be perfect with Graphic 45's Off To The Races Collection. 

    This little binder is very old, but the colors are perfect with the papers, so I didn't want to cover the whole thing, instead, I opted to just layer my papers, chipboard pieces and flowers on top of the cover......more like an accent.

I diecut a few doilies to layer in between the papers. I also tucked in a few blooms among the papers, along with a bit of cheesecloth in and around the flowers. I distressed the edges of the papers, but didn't add any inking, I wanted the colors to stay pure.

I adore these Garden Rosettes.......so gorgeous!! and these colors are just perfect!!

I did make a few pages for the binder, thinking that I would turn it into a mini......but I decided to go ahead and use it as an address book instead. In the end, it looks much better, and is far more useable for what I want. I will probably turn the rest of the pages into tags and/or cards.

Stitched With Love Vintage Style Sewing Themed Folio for Mom

Hello, Friends!  Where would we be without Mom?  With Mother's Day fast approaching, today's post is a tribute to moms everywhere.  Many of us are without our moms on this day for one reason or another.  My own precious mom went to be with the Lord in 2005.  Instead of being sad over her absence, I've created a new Mother's Day tradition of preparing a special card or gift for women who have played a crucial role in my life.   Even though these women are not MY mom, I'm sure they appreciate receiving a special gift that lets them know how much they mean to me.  So I've created a lovely Vintage Style Sewing Themed folio using Kaisercraft's lovely Mademoiselle collection.  This folio is for my dear friend Karen, who is a master quilt maker. 

 

This is a 5" x 7" folio with a 1" spine.  The dimensional pocket on the front cover is decorated with gorgeous Botanica Pistachio Anemones, Red Vintage Velvet Pansies, Green Mini Garden Rosettes, Green Mini Mixed Blooms, and Cream Darjeeling Mini Blossoms. 

 

These blooms top a dimensional pocket that I filled with paper pretties.

Don't you just love the way that the buttons on this hand stamped vintage style button card pick up on the pansies in the flower cluster?

The spine is decorated with ribbon, a cluster of small charms, and a pretty button.

 

The album is just chock full of vintage charm, beautiful patterns, pretty flowers and interactive elements.

Lots of  pockets with little paper pretties tucked in.  I just love interactive elements, don't you?

Love Warms Every Nest

Love Warms Every Nest Springtime Vignette for Petaloo International

Hello, Friends!  Don't you just love springtime?  One of my favorite things about this lovely season is the return of all the little songbirds.  Birds will build a nest in the oddest spots. Last year, a pair of bluebirds built their nest in our neighbor's mailbox, and all anxiously anticipated the arrival of those baby birds.  Thinking about this inspired me to make this Love Warms Every Nest Springtime Vignette for Petaloo International. 

 

 I've been saving this little metal wagon for just the right project.  After treating it with Prima Rust Paste, it was filled with a bed of Spanish Moss.  Then I added this cute little bird nest.  Next I painted some miniature eggs with Distress Oxide Ink and added them to the nest.  Then I had the best time creating a garden full of pretty Petaloo flowers in shades of purple, green and white.

 

 Earlier this year, I happened across a fabulous clearance sale at Michael's where I found this chunky 4" x 4" canvas which was perfect for the base of my vignette.  I covered it with a green floral print from Graphic 45's Place in Time Deluxe Collector's Edition.  Then I wrapped it with these lovely bird feathers.

Next, the top was covered with more Spanish Moss and more pretty flowers and butterflies.

The chipboard tag is attached to a mini chalkboard that is in turn attached to a clothespin.  This way, I can just clip the tag onto the side of the wagon and it stands all on its own.  The tag is from Graphic 45's A Place in Time Deluxe Collector's Edition.  

 Making this sweet little vignette was almost as much fun as planting real flowers.  I hope it brought some sunshine into your life, too. You can find a supply list at the end of this post. Thanks for stopping by!

Hello, Friends!  I'm back again today to share another Petaloo Pets project with you.  Yesterday I shared a shabby chic folio for your favorite pooch, but today it's all about CATS!  Once again, I've paired gorgeous Petaloo flowers with images and papers from Authentique's "Devoted" collection. 

I found this 7" x 6" book board binder album in the Closet of Shame while straightening up my stash.  I altered the cover by adding patterned papers and a canvas spine for extra texture.  The end result is this sweet little album that is just loaded with shabby chic touches. 

Every shabby chic project needs to be adorned with beautiful flowers.  I had such a good time dressing this album up with Petaloo mini wild roses, Forget-me-nots, and burlap blossoms.  I'll provide product links at the end of this post.

One really fun feature is this framed image inside a cluster of buttons.  The frame is actually a large button!  I just punched out a vintage image to fit the button interior, glued the image in place and then filled the button with Glossy Accents to create a unique vintage embellishment for the album.

The album came with a ring binder mechanism.  I created different sized/shaped pages to create a staggered effect. 

 

The pretty shabby chic frame was altered with paints and seed beads. I added a glass bead to the burlap butterfly body to make it pop in the layout.

I added this canvas spine with Scor-Tape to add texture and to amp up the shabby chic vibe.

Here's a peek inside the album.  Pockets were added to each cover for even more photo storage.  The staggered pages give the album a playful, whimsical feel. Because I find it hard to get a real sense of the flow of an album with still photos, I created a YouTube video tour for you.  In it, I share lots of tips and tricks for using scraps, creating custom embellishments and getting the most out of your papers.  I hope you enjoy!

Hello, Friends!  Are you enjoying the Petaloo Pets theme? I have a really fun little folio to share with you today.  It's fairly quick to pull together (a day or less) and is built in a style that lends itself to display in your home or office.  I used lots of pretty Petaloo posies along with Authentique's "Devoted" paper collection to make this shabby chic All You Need is Love...and a Dog folio.

The folio is made from  a 5" x 7" card base with a 1/4" spine.  This is an easy adaptation.  When you are building your card base, score at both 7" and 7 1/4".  Now you have a dimensional base that you can fill with all kinds of little photo mounts and pull outs. 

The Authentique papers have a wonderful vintage/shabby chic feel to them.  I emphasized this by adding Petaloo Spice Anemones, Blue Forget me Nots, and Ivory Textured blossoms.  After layering up the images and patterns on the cover, I spattered them with a little diluted black paint to amp up the shabby/vintage vibe.

Petaloo Pretties for Creativation (CHA)

Hello, Friends!  Happy New Year!  It seems the holidays came and went in a flash, doesn't it?  I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful time celebrating and relaxing with family and friends.  The big event for January's calendar is  the Creativation Show (formerly known as CHA).  Thousands of individuals and businesses in the creative arts industry will be gathering to display new product, share make and takes, receive awards for innovation and design and connect with other creative souls in the industry.  Of course Petaloo International by Floracraft will be there and I was honored to be asked to create a few fun samples to show off our gorgeous flowers. I thought it might be fun to share a few sneak peeks of them with you here today.

Butterfly Wings Banner

Banners are so much fun to make...and so hard to photograph!  I wish you could see this one in person, as it is one of the prettiest I have ever made.  I used Graphic 45 Nature Sketchbook with a host of beautiful Petaloo flowers.

These yellow Anemones just pop off the Nature's Sketchbook papers, don't they?  I added in Cream Darjeeling Hydrangea, Cream Darjeeling Garden Rosettes and flirty Cream Teastained Darjeeling Butterflies.

I sponged the Cream Garden Rosettes with a little yellow ink.  I love that Petaloo Flowers can be altered in so many different ways!

This Graphic 45 Shabby Chic Door Pull was painted with cream acrylic paint.  I filled the center with Green Hydrangea and Cream Petite Darjeeling blooms.

The edges of the designer papers were dry brushed with cream paint to soften them just a little. 

I always appreciate  how perfectly Petaloo flowers match Graphic 45 papers!

Trifold Mini Album

Variety is the spice of life, especially when the spice refers to these beautiful Spice Darjeeling Mini Mix Blossoms!  They add a lovely punch of color to the cover of this album.  I've paired them up with another gorgeous Yellow Anemone, Cream Petite Blossoms, and Cream Darjeeling Butterflies. Peach Berry Clusters add a touch of sophistication and shine.

This petite album measures just 5" x 7" but it has loads of room for photos and journaling.  There are 8 photo mounts behind the belly band on this page!  If you place a photo on both sides, that's 16 photos!

The center panel has a double pocket with room for smaller 4" x 4" photos and journaling cards.

The waterfall folio on the far right side is made by cutting 4" wide x 4.5" tall rectangles from Nature Sketchbook Prints and Patterns paper.  Each rectangle was scored 1/2" on the long side, then folded to create a 4" square.  You simply glue each folded flap to the base, lining up the top edge and sides as you go along.  The shaped edges were created with a corner punch.  It's a fun way to fit a lot of pictures into a small space!

I used belly bands to hold small fussy cut images from the collection.  Photos can slip right behind the band, easy peasy!

Petaloo Butterfly Tree

Floracraft manufactures beautiful styrofoam forms that can be used to create really pretty party decor like this Petaloo Butterfly Tree. 

I love this pretty combination of paper rosettes, Darjeeling Rosettes, Butterflys and buttons!

I used an empty spool as the base for my styrofoam tree form.  Torn paper layers were decoupaged onto the foam base.   Then I just had the best time hot gluing a garden full of flowers, butterflies and rosettes on top.  These three pieces would make lovely bridal shower decor, don't you think?

Cookies and Milk for Santa Recipe Folio

Hello, Friends!  Here we are in full Christmas countdown mode.  In a day or two, I will close the studio door, turn on the oven and begin our family's favorite Christmas tradition: Christmas Cookies!  I love to bake almost as much as I love to play with paper, so it's a very fun time for me.  The kids and neighbors love the cookies, and Santa does, too!  So I've created a little Cookies and Milk for Santa Recipe folio using Authentique's fun and festive Retro Christmas Collection.

Don't you just love these great retro patterns paired up with Petaloo Berries/Pine Branches, Darjeeling Mini Poinsettia and Vintage Velvet Holly Leaves? 

I tapped a little grit paste onto the pine cones, berries and poinsettia to add even more texture and wintry fun. 

 

The inside has both a pocket and a gatefold album that opens out accordion style. I had such fun making this banner with the stickers that come in the collection.

I used cardstock to create little recipe cards for the pocket.  Adding a punched border to the belly bands really made the papers pop.  The recipe card just slides out from under the belly band.  There is an additional recipe card glued to the back.  Now, all my favorite cookie recipes will be easy to find!

The top half of the folio has this fun little accordion album.  Just untie the ribbon and fold the pages out.

There are 12 small panels for photos and one large panel. 

I love to use the scraps on my worktable to make little cards or tags.  This cutie patootie Santa tag will really dress up a plate of cookies!  Once again, I tapped the Regal Gold Poinsettia with grit paste to resemble snow.  The green glitter stars are perfect playmates for this Retro Santa Tag.

Now that my kids are all grown and on their own, I enjoy doing holiday baking with our granddaughters.  It's such a privilege to pass this sweet tradition on to another generation.  So I'm off to find my apron, preheat the oven and get the holiday started!
