Hello, Friends! It's Kathy Clement here with a great idea for a graduation card. Many of us present the graduate with cash or a gift card. It's always nice to present a monetary gift in way that makes it even more special. So I went on a search in my favorite papers from Graphic 45, looking for a collection that would lend itself to a graduation theme. I found this great Look Out World image in the classic "Come Away With Me" collection.
I love the depth, dimension and texture that these Petaloo Penny Lane Sea Green Mini Wild Roses add to the card's composition.
While this may look like a standard 6" x 6" top fold card, the focal image actually opens up to reveal a hidden gift card pocket. Simply remove the mini binder clip....
...and there it is! You can write your congratulatory message on the enclosed mini post card, then tuck the gift card in along with it. How fun is that?
The inside of the card holds a postcard filled with tags. The tags can hold small photos of the graduate, be used as bookmarks, or a place to write down some words of wisdom for the graduate.
The decorative panel on the bottom half of the card actually opens. This would be a great place to tuck in a few small graduation photos.
A Fond Farewell
The other reason I chose a travel themed collection for this card is a little bit sad. This is my last post as a member of the Petaloo Design Team. As you know, Petaloo is now owned by Floracraft, and the parent company has decided to close down the Petaloo blog and disband the design team.
Life is a journey with lots of destinations along the way. A little more than 2 years ago, I literally danced for joy when Cheryl, the owner of Petaloo, asked me to guest design for a month. At the end of the month, she asked me if I would like to stay on as a permanent designer. Would I? You betcha!
It has been such an honor to design with gorgeous Petaloo flowers, stick pins, and trims for the past 2+ years. Cheryl has been a dream to work for: supportive, kind and generous. My Petaloo teammates have been a joy to work with and I've been blessed to forge some friendships that will endure even after this gig is over.
And then there's YOU the loyal Petaloo fans. You have been so kind with your lovely comments on my posts. I will continue to use Petaloo products in my design work, and will continue to share those projects on my personal blog, Kathy by Design.
You will continue to be able to purchase Petaloo flowers in retail shops and online in stores such as Scrapbook.com, JoAnn's, and A Cherry on Top. Thank you so much for being on the journey with me.
All good things must come to an end, and I exit with a heart that is filled with gratitude for the wonderful experience I've had designing for Petaloo. As the sentiment on the post card in my project says, "The Best is Yet to Be!"
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Cheerio,
kathy
