Hello, Friends! Welcome to Day 5 of the Petaloo/Authentique "Summer is Coming" Blog Hop! Summer is always such an action packed season with graduations, vacations, travel and family fun time. I paired Authentique's gorgeous "Explore" collection up with Darjeeling flowers and Petaloo Fancy Trims to create a travel themed mini album and card that would make a great gift for the graduate who is planning some summer travel.
The album measures about 4" x 5.5" and has a fun accordion fold structure. I worked with the 6x6 Explore pad, as the patterns were sized perfectly for this tiny wonder. I was thrilled to find that the Blue Fancy Trims were such happy playmates for this great vintage color palette, and used the 1.5" crocheted lace to create a belly band on the album cover. Once the cover art was added, I filled up the lower left hand corner with a field of my favorite Darjeeling flowers. The various textures, colors, sizes and shapes really made the album come to life. I even customized a binder clip with paper and a Petite Darjeeling blossom, and then used it to hold this chunky little album closed.
The inside of the album is interactive, with flip down pages, pockets and room for lots of photos. I topped this tag with more Fancy Trims and a Petite Darjeeling Blossom, making it pop right off the page.
This flip down page has room for a photo, and a journaling spot made with one of the stickers from the collection.
How fun will it be to capture summer vacation memories on these pages? And, the page on the left folds out to reveal even more room for photos and journaling.
Tucking a mini Darjeeling Blossom in with this embellishment cluster was the perfect finishing touch. Remove the paper clip, and you'll find another flip down page with room for a full sized photo and a journaling spot.
Here's a slash pocket page with several cute journaling tags tucked inside. You can write on one side, and add small photos on the other.
Here's a view of the album opened up on one side. The "Not all who wander are lost" quote opens to reveal a mini album within a mini album! Petite Darjeeling blossoms add so much to the design of these pages, but they are small enough to allow the album to close well.
And here's the cover side opened out. Even though it's tiny, this little album packs a visual punch and has more than enough room to hold the memories from a special trip this summer. I had such fun working with these Darjeeling flowers and Explore paper from Authentique that I decided to make a card to go along with my mini album.
For this 5x7 graduation card, I layered up papers from the 12x12 Explore Collection Kit along with more Darjeeling Blooms. I love how the Yellow Dahlias pull out the gold tones from the paper collection, while the Red and Blue Mini Mix flowers pull out the blues and reds in the plaid background paper. The Blue Fancy Trim Belly Band adds wonderful texture and lifts the focal image from the background.
The inside of the card is finished with a gift card pocket, a tag that's topped with more Fancy Trim crocheted lace and a Petite Blue Darjeeling Blossom. Again, the petite size of these flowers makes them perfect to use on the inside of a project because they add beauty without bulk.
What a great way to capture summer memories! These Authentique papers and Petaloo flowers are the perfect traveling companions!
Thanks so much for hopping by!
Kathy
