Usually I never, ever make Thanksgiving Crafts. Why? I manage a grocery store and pretty much the day after Halloween starts the busiest time of year for us. So my crafting is at a minimal! But this year a broken ankle has temporarily sidelined me, so I am really enjoying getting some fall crafting in! I love clothespin crafts and being tasked with an easy Fall Craft, I knew clothespins were the way to go. But after I made them- I wanted something fun to hang them on until turkey day, so I added a little hanger for them. I used a linen hanger, but you can use any wire hanger and just bend it into the square shape.
You will need- enough clothespins for the number of guests you have-a hanger-a sheet of cardstock-some small stick on alphas and some Petaloo Flowers (supply list at end)
First I measured the clothespins. 3 Inches by 5/16ths! But measure yours they are allprobably a little different
Next I sprayed using some Colorbox Spritzers- you could also use any ink. I like the Clearsnaps Crafters Ink- for wood and fabric. You can also just leave them plain!
While your pins are drying-cut out your strips. Its easiest to cut out a long 3 inch long strip first, then snip at 5/16. I used a red marker to make a tiny dot where 5/16 was.
Next I ran my strips through my Xyron Create A Sticker, you could also use a tape runner, or even some white glue.
Next stick on your alphas, you can also use a Provo Craft Letter Stamp or a colored Sharpie and write it yourself
Next Hot Glue on your flowers. You can also use glue dots or white glue. I liked how the leaves looked on two of the flowers, so I just borrowed some leaves from another pack of Petaloos! (not Pictured- I took some brown Crafters Ink and inked the edges of the alpha stickers)
Okay, so part two I wasn't going to even show because I was trying to keep it simple- but I was so happy with how it came out I had to share. All I did was take a piece of muslin and traced out the shape from my hanger. I then blanket stitched the edge with embroidery floss. I stamped OUR GUESTS with Crafters Ink. I added the Botanica Flowers with Hot glue. I took some of the images from Graphic 45 Place in Time and added them a top some tulle. Then took my heat gun to the tulle to distress it.
Here are some ideas of how you can use your Thanksgiving Name Tags.
