I am thrilled to guest designing for Petaloo during the Marion Smith blog hop! Who wouldn't jump at the chance to work with such outstanding products? I can't wait to show you what I've made.
I am often the recipient of other people's 'junk'. My friends and neighbours know that I cannot resist upcycling, or reinventing old unloved objects. This project started out as one of those donated pieces. What began life as a cutesy, country birdhouse is now a little shabby chic abode thanks to a bit of love and products from Petaloo and Marion Smith.
This project has been waiting for just the right products to cross my path and when I laid eyes on the Marion Smith Motley collection I knew it was a perfect fit!
To create the tiled roof I simply cut rectangles from "Darling" and inked the edges. I curled up a few edges to create some textural interest.
The Petaloo flowers, leaves and embellishments coordinate perfectly!
Each side of the building has a little window and flower box bursting with pretty Petaloo buds and leaves. There's even a copper drain pipe made from bendy drinking straws :)
Both of the little doors open and inside are some sweet vignettes. The interior has been decorated with papers from Marion Smith's Never Grow Up collection, Treasure Map is featured on the walls and In the Garden makes an awfully pretty floor.
The bottom floor houses a vintage porcelain songbird surrounded by pretty Petaloo blooms.
Finally the top floor hosts a tiny library with beautiful potted Petaloo plants, a hedgehog, handmade miniature books and a collection of old buttons.

Wow, this is so amazing! I am in love with these papers, they work so well with your house too. I love the screen doors and the little rooms you created inside. And your roof, chimneys and cooper downspout is just awesome, you did such a wonderful job. Thanks for sharing.

The up-cycled house is fabulous. I have several doll houses and this would fit in perfectly with them. There are so many details and the things you added just make it more Victorian and elegant.
