Its DAY 4 of our Christmas Blog Hop with Authentique! We hope you enjoy these beautiful Christmas tree decorations and Thanksgiving table decorations from DT member Lynne Forsythe.
~ ~ ~
Howdy peeps.....Lynne here.....
My favorite holiday is right around the corner....
THANKSGIVING!!
A time when the ALL the family gather's at my sister's house...
Each of us brings our "favorite" dishes....
I ALWAYS make
New Oreleans Casserole,
Cranberry Relish
Celery stuffed with Cream Cheese and Dates
and topped with chopped Walnuts
and keeping up my grandmother's tradition....
an Apple Pie.
....after we have stuffed our bellies....
we clear off the table...
and it is FAMILY TIME.
Our family time consists of
MAKING SOMETHING...
(this is where I come in!)
We have created placemats using favorite pictures,
ginger bread houses,
decorated Christmas Cookies.
....the time we spend together is
PRICELESS!!!
Now, a while back, when in an unfinished furniture store,
I came across a bag of wooden "Signs" by Darice..
(glad I picked them up!!)
I just knew THEY would come in handy
and they are just PERFECT
for this years CRAFT!!!
CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS!
Steps I used to create the Ornaments....
(always subject to the creators choice)
1. Trace an outline of the sign onto a piece of Patterened Paper.
I choose to use the Tradition Collection from Authentique
2. Paint the wooden "signs". Let dry
4. Distress the edges of the paper.
5. Adhere paper to "sign"
ink edges if desired.
6. Choose from various Petaloo flowers,
precut pieces of Fancy Trims/Lace
and verbage from the Tradition ~ Elements by Authentique
7. Compile Ornament.
I am SOOOOO LOOKING forward to this time
lots of laughs,
conversation...
and the BEST TIME EVER
(at least until next year)
Now I would never think of arriving at my sister's house
without "something" I've made to adorn the food table...
and this year is no different.
While in Wally Land the other day....
I came across a wagon full of small
decorative pumpkins...
and they were 75% off.
I snatched up a few
(ok maybe more than a few).
I had been wanting to create a "White Pumpkin"
so I did...
and placecards to match!
I painted the pumpkin with Gesso,
it took about 3 layers.
I then painted on a layer of Iridescent ~ Gold Silk Acrylic Glaze.
(added a BEAUTIFUL sheen)
I embellished my pumpkin with Petaloo Flowers from the
Botanica and Textured Elements Collections.
....here is a view of the top of the pumpkin.
I will leave you with this quote...
We can only be said to be alive
in those moments when our hearts
are conscious of our treasures.

Lynne what a wonderful way to share time with family - creating together. Outside of my sister most of my family don't have the creative gene - but I think it would be pretty fun all the same. Great projects thank you for sharing.
