Welcome to DAY 1 of our Christmas in November BLOG HOP with Authentique!
We hope you enjoy the party...
Sometimes the amount of paper we have can just overwhelm us with too many decisions about what to make! Creating Mini albums solves the problem. Making them allows you to use all of your papers along with their matching embellishments and your favorite Petaloo Flower too! I was so excited to see that Authentique sent along a Joyous Paper Crafting Kit with 350 pieces! I like to create my albums-using this formula- I cover and ink all of the main pages-I then put on secondary backgrounds on each page- then I bind together- then I embellish each page. By doing it this way it's less overwhelming than doing page by page, you make sure that your embellishments fit within your binding (nothing more annoying than finding you placed a flower right over a hole!) and you can see how adding embellishments will layer and ultimately look within the book. In my project pics I added in a few tips and the instructions are at the end!
I embellished my wreath with Petaloos Christmas Hat Pin Bows with Jingles
To make my Title Stickers stand out- I used a Sharpie Brush to lightly outline them on the paper backing before I cut them out.
I love this little wreath embellishment. I used my Petaloo Fancy Trim in Assorted Glitz All Red.
To make the wreath I used a cup and an embossing powder lid as a template to trace out on chipboard-then I placed a square of cardstock over the back, and cut it out (then dont have to worry about cutting the cardstock perfectly to match the wreath.
Then just wrap your trim around- so easy and super cute!
Why I call this a binder! I used my Zutter Bind-it-all on the inside, then created this outside binder with chipboard and washi tape paper. I punched two holes in the center and ran this amazing Silk ribbon from May Arts through the wire and cover- voila a binder!
I start by laying the cover a top the ribbon-then run the ribbon through the OUTSIDE of the binding wires, into the inside(use a pencil to push through- then I pulled it tight
I then run the ends through the two hole I punched in the binding spine
pull through to the outside and tie in a bow
I love these Petaloo Mini Red Pointesttias x12- just pop them on your page and it screams Christmas!
Here I used a combination of a Petaloo Mixed Texture Blossom in Moss Green and some Velvet Hydrangeas Red
More of the Red Velvet Hydrangeas- it says Red but you actually get a wonderful mix of creams, greens and browns too!
And these Botanica Berry Clusters! LOVE!
More Velvet Hydrangeas- yes they already come with that dash of sparkle on them! I also used another of the Mixed Texture Blooms in Moss Green too,
This flower is from the Botanica Collection Floral Ephemera Red.I just cut out the ree from some cardstock and it made them look like tree flowers!
For some of my flowers I added a little extra sparkle by brushing with some Smooch Glitz Accent ink in Firecracker
and finally the last of my Mixed textured Blooms in Moss Green!
Directions:
Cut a front and back binder cover and a spine. I cut the binder cover 1 inch longer and 1/2 inch wider than my inside pages. I cut the Spine 3/4 inch wider than the wire I used. This project is 4x6inch with a 1.25 inch spine. I sprayed with Colorbox Smooch Spritz in Cranberry and then bound it together using We R Memory Keeper Washi paper
Each page is a Petite Folder in Authentiques Joyous Paper Crafting kit- I then added some file cards from the kit- punched and bound with my Zutter and 1/2 inch wire
For the cover I layered two piece cut from the kits cardstock-inked with Colorbox red Pigment ink and used the kits Alphas, stickers, and die cuts for my Titles. The wreath is shown earlier in the post. I used Petaloos Fancy Trims Assorted Glitz All Red and chipboard-it is hot glued on
Then I just chose some of my favorite stickers and die cuts from the Authentique Joyous kit adding along my favorite Petaloo Flowers along the way, as show in the photos above.
Now all you need to do is add pictures! I highly recommend using a kit when you feel overwhelmed! Happy Scrapping!

Gorgeous album Alice. I definitely have a paper problem - too much paper and not enough time to try to find and coordinate colours and patterns. Kits definitely sound like a good idea.

this album makes we wish for simpler times. it reminds me of my grandmother, who passed away at age 96 more than 8 years ago. thanks for the inspiration.

Gorgeous album and I like how you said to ink all the papers and the secondary items next and then embellish. I will have to try this out as I do sometimes get overwhelmed doing a page at a time.
