Fourth of July festivities will be here soon, so it's time to start thinking about DIY decorations. Today, I have a really fun and quick table decoration that uses Patterned paper from Graphic 45, a premade box, skewers, and lots of Petaloo goodies.
First I covered my premade box with the Graphic 45, July papers from their Place in Time collection. I had gotten a package of these at the craft store at one point for about a dollar. Then I cut out squares from the same paper and made a pinwheel by cutting from each corner to the middle, leaving a space in the middle so that the cutting lines don't touch.
Then I folded every other corner forward and secured them with some glue dots and a Petaloo Embellishment brad. If your pinwheels are larger than it is easy to punch holes at the tips and get them connected with just a brad, but these small ones needed a little extra help from the glue dots to keep all the ends under control. To add some sparkle, I put some Stickles on the edges of the pinwheel and set them aside to dry.
Then I wrapped my wooden skewers with strips of paper and attached the pinwheel. After that I punched holes in the top of my box with my paper piercer and inserted the skewers. You can use a glob of hot glue to secure everything in the box if needed.
Then it was time to decorate. I punched out stars from patterned paper and glittered paper and arranged them on my box and the skewers, flat and sometimes with foam adhesive. I also fussy cut out a picture from the Graphic 45 paper and attached it to the skewers.
Then the finale, the Petaloo flowers which where perfectly matched to the paper and really gave it that WOW factor. I used red and blue Darjeeling flowers amongst the stars and at the top.
Now, won't these be lovely on my picnic table on Fourth of July!
Today is my last post for Petaloo as a design team member. I have been with the team for over 3 years now and I feel that it is time for someone else to have a turn so I am stepping down. I have loved every minute that I have been with Petaloo, which was why it was so hard to make this decision, but I hope to be back now and then with a guest post. Thanks to all of you, who over the years, gave me such joy by reading your wonderful and sweet comments. They are so appreciated and really makes it all worthwhile. Thanks to Petaloo for having me on their design team and letting me use your wonderful products. Your flowers are stunning and make designing with them such a joy.
Thanks for everything and have a great day!
