Sharon Harnist is back again to share her project using our Color Me Crazy flowers and her tips using Copic.
Hi, Sharon Harnist here from Copic Markers again. I'm excited to share today's Copic-Petaloo project with you -- this 5.25" x 6" greeting card:
I started by die cutting chocolate cardstock with my Cricut to create this pretty cut out branch card front. I used Copic's 1/4-inch Foam Mounting Tape on the back side of the card front and secured a blue patterned paper "sky" for dimension:
Next, I cut a piece of Copic's white X-Press It Blending Card to fit the lower portion of my card front and scattered it with Petaloo's CMC Darjeeling Collection Hydrangea flowers with temporary adhesive on them. Then I used Copic R83 Sketch Marker in my Copic Airbrush System and airbrushed the color all over the cardstock and flowers. The flowers did double duty and acted as a mask for my pink airbrushed background, as well as easily getting the color I wanted to use on the upper part of the card, to create a color coordinated card:
To custom color Petaloo's beautiful CMC Chipboard Birdhouses with Birds pieces, I used Copic's Opaque White to base coat the chipboard pieces and then airbrushed the colors I wanted. Generally, this Opaque White is used to add white accents to Copic colored art, but I found it also works great as a base coat for your Copic coloring as well!
Then I airbrushed the pieces with Copic Y21 Sketch Marker. It is easy to get more in-depth shading like I did on the large bird, by just concentrating more of the same color on the lower part of the bird. Then I used my Copic E25 Sketch Marker to color some of the pretty accents on the birdcage:
I tied the birdcage to the branch with some embroidery floss and attached the colored blossoms to the branches:
See all the lovely dimension the chipboard pieces and blossoms add to my card:
To finish my card, I stamped this pretty greeting from JustRite Papercraft's Let Your Soul Sing stamp set with chocolate ink and then overstamped the white spaces that were left behind from my airbrused blossoms with a coordinating stamp from the same JustRight stamp set and accented the them with tiny gemstones.
Many thanks to Petaloo for having me as a guest designer this week . . . I thoroughly enjoyed working with all their wonderful products!
~ Sharon

Loving the tips on using Copics! Good idea to use a white basecoat on the chipboard first, I'll have to remember that
