So is everyone ready for school to begin? My kids have already started back and love their teachers and their classmates. It seems as if we will have a very good year. When I taught school the first couple weeks were filled with making things for my classroom. Bulletin boards, centers, and charts always need to be created. So when I was thinking about a project for this blog hop I decided I wanted to create something for a classroom.
To make everyone feel welcome in the classroom I came up with an idea for this sign. I used my Cameo and a SVGCuts file to create the sign itself and the cute little school themed die cuts. The paper that I used is all from Core'dinations. I love their paper. The colors are stunning and it, of course, coordinates perfectly with the Flora Doodles line from Petaloo. I embellished the sign with Petaloo flowers, glitter paper and twine. Here is a close up of the right side of the sign. The red and green glitter paper on the apple is mulberry glitter paper from Petaloo. It cuts so smoothly in my Cameo.
Here is a closeup of the left side of the sign. I had some fun with twine from May Arts to create the center of the flower at the top. More Petaloo flowers on this side too. Love that everything matches perfectly.
Then because every student loves to tell their teacher they are the best I created this card with a detachable award pin on it. The award pin was cut using a cut file by Lori Whitlock on my Silhouette Cameo. I used red glitter paper from Core'dinations. It's really thick which made the pin sturdy. Then I stamped the sentiment on the middle circle using some fun clear stamps from Sweet Stamp Shop. The set is called School's Out and it has all kinds of words so that you could make these award pins for everyone at school. Librarians, Bus Drivers, Principal, and the list goes on. I also used the apple image border to create the background paper for my card. I wanted it to be subtle so that the award pin was the focal point. Since the stamps were clear it was so easy to line it up row after row.
I added a Petaloo flower to the award pin and it was all ready to go. Tip: To attach the pin to the card, punch two small round holes with a 1/8th inch hole punch in the middle of your card and slide the pin through the two holes. Go through all layers so that the pin can be unclipped from the inside of the card.
Thanks for stopping by this week for our special Petaloo, Coredinations, Sweet Shoppe Stamps blog hop. I know you will get lots of fun ideas for your school related projects.

Super adorable wall plaque! I love it!!!
School is soooo far away in time (i graduated high school 21 years ago!), but my favorite memories will always be all the time spent with my friends, especially my best friend Denise. We were inseparable from 4th grade until senior year. We always had loads of fun and laughs together! And we're still very good friends today :)

One of my fav. memories was getting a project back from my extremely hard and strict grade 8 teacher and reading her very positive comments. Her words have remained with me to this day! amazing how a teacher can touch a life! Thanks for all the inspiration- great and cheerful project!

Great projects today and the Classroom sign is adorable. My fav school memory - being the official scorekeeper for the boys baseball team and riding the bus to & from games. Had to bring another girl with me and we had to ride in front seat and we weren't allowed to turn around and look at the back of the bus until after we stopped for ice cream. Turns out half the guys were changing clothes after the game as soon as we boarded the bus. This was in the early 70's

One of my favorite memories in school was having the freedom during study halls to go to the music department and practice or sort music for the band and choral directors. I eventually became a music major at Northwestern University.

What a perfect door decor for the classroom. I loved being able to go home at lunchtime to see my dad before he went to work but always had to hurry back to play baseball.

That classroom sign is so cute and the card is, too! One of my favorite memories is when my super shy daughter finally came out of her shell and became an ascertive young woman. All thanks to a teacher that saw great leadership qualities in her.

Such a cute sign and a really great teacher card! I had this really great bus driver when I first started school. When I first got on the bus at the end of the day I can remember getting to sit in his lap and talk to him about what we did that day. It seemed like such a cool thing to be able to sit behind the wheel of a school bus!

What fun projects! As for first day memories, I will never forget the first day of sixth grade. For the first time ever, I had to take a bus to get to the middle school. I was afraid I was going to miss it! Fortunately, I made it through that first day!

I remember my mom making me Cream of Wheat for breakfast and I still enjoy it! Also, my cousin Larry and I walked to elementary school every day...I do remember that Larry could tie his shoes before me
and I sat on our basement steps; until I could tie my shoes, too...
Many thanks, Cindi

Love this, such a cute classroom decoration!
My favorite school memory was starting kindergarten in Hawaii. There was a man on our walk home from school that drove a truck like an ice cream truck but he sold snacks like macadamia and pistachio nuts and Corn Nuts. These are what we used to buy from him! And King Kamehameha Day, that was a unique experience!
