Color Me Crazy Unity Stamps!

Starting tomorrow, Monday, May 20th.  We bring you a super delightful team-up week.  Unity Stamps will be joining us all week to bring stamping to our Color Me Crazy collections.

Color Me Crazy with Ranger Ink and Lisa Pace

 

Hi, I'm Lisa Pace and I was so happy to be asked to be a part of Color Me Crazy Week using products by two awesome companies, Petaloo and Ranger Ink. Of course I decided to create something with a shabby chic feel as soon as I saw the Shabby Cut and Straight Cut Fabric Flowers. I decided to alter a canvas clutch as I thought the Fabric Flowers would be the perfect accent and I was right. 

First, I covered the canvas clutch with decorative napkins using Claudine Hellmuth Studio Multi Medium in Matte. Once the Multi Medium dried using fabric adhesive I attached crotchet and rhinestone trims around the front edge of the canvas clutch opening. 

It was then time to start altering the Shabby and Straight Cut Fabric Flowers. I decided to use Tim Holtz Distress Stains to color each of my Fabric Flowers. I applied a generous amount of Spun Sugar onto the large Shabby Cut Fabric Flower and Faded Jeans and Mustard Seed on two different Fabric Flowers from the Straight Cut.

You see two Mustard Seed color Frayed Fabric Flowers in the photo, just ignore one as I decided later, two was too many.

Once all three Fabric Flowers had a generous amount of Tim Holtz Distress Stain applied I then placed each flower underneath the faucet and rinsed some of the Distress Stain away. This gave each flower a gorgeous muted shabby chic color.

While the Fabric Flowers were drying I started altering some Cotton Paper Medium Sized Leaves. I could have buckets full of these leaves and I would still not have enough. These are the perfect size to tuck into all kinds of projects. 

I applied Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Peeled Paint to five Cotton Paper Leaves. I loved how each of the leaves absorbed the Distress Stain as each leaf was a bit different just as they are in nature. To dry each Cotton Paper Leaf I held them one at a time with a pair of tweezers then dried them using a Heat It Craft Tool. 

Using Archival Ink in Coffee I randomly stamped each Cotton Paper Leaf using the advertisement stamp from my Antiquated Collection Perfumery stamp set. Once the stamping was completed it was time to attach the altered Fabric Flowers and Cotton Paper Leaves to the altered clutch.

Of course this is when I decided to apply a light coat of Diamond Stickles over the altered Faded Jeans Straight Cut Fabric Flower. All I did was apply some Diamond Stickles on my finger and rub it onto the Straight Cut Fabric Flower. This added a bit more interest to the floral grouping I wanted on the front of the clutch. Since it was such a light coating (just enought to add a little sparkle here and there) I didn't feel the need to wait for the Stickles to dry. 

Using fabric adhesive I attached each altered Fabric Flower into a small grouping. Then using the same fabric adhesive I tucked the Cotton Paper Leaves in among the flowers. 

To complete the clutch I added a few stick pins among the flowers and accented some of the pattern on the napkins using Diamond Stickles. 

I hope you enjoyed this project and it's sparked a little inspiration. Altering the Canvas Fabric Flowers is so easy and fun to do, it's almost sinful if you don't give it a try.

Color Me Crazy...with Ranger and Jill Foster

Hi All!  It's Jill Foster here and I'm so honored to be sharing a couple of projects that feature Color Me Crazy flowers with Ranger products.

The new Ranger Distress Paints work beautifully with all of the flowers in the Color Me Crazy line.  I've used a variety of flowers including Multicolored Centers, Darjeeling, Asst. Flower Layers, Wild Roses, Canvas Flowers, and Mixed Florals on this mixed media wooden heart.  

I've also made a card using the same techniques...

I just love the grungy distressed look of the paints on these flowers!

For extra inspiration, I've created a tutorial video, just for you!

When I opened my Design Team box that contained the 
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS
Petaloo ~ Penny Lane Flowers and
Vintage Bliss by Simple Stories,
it just about killed me
to have to wait to work with
these BEAUTIFUL PRODUCTS!!

But once I had a moment....
I pulled out all the goodness
and let the creative process flow.

 and can I just tell you....I had the time of my life!!

To add a cohesiveness to all the
different Petaloo flowers that were used,
I added some Precious Metal Effects Paint to the
edges of the flowers. 

The basis for the canvas was the piece of
patterened paper that I just fell in love with.
Grey Wood ~ Vintage Bliss.

Using several Crafter's Workshop Stencils,
I applied layers of Gesso
and Wendy Vecchi's Embossing Paste.

Don't you just love the "SMILE"?
It was cut from one of the Simple Stories
papers and outlined with
a Pitt Big Brush Pen
which adds lots of depth!

further see how I created the canvas.

Denise Hahn is BACK!!!

We are so excited to welcome Denise Hahn back as our April Guest Designer. Denise is super creative so when we asked her to work with our Penny Lane collection, she was more than excited to take on the task to create these 3 projects.

I am so excited to be back as a Guest Designer this month. I can design with Petaloo Flowers ALL DAY LONG, and that's just what I did with todays projects. This month Petaloo is teaming up with Simple Stories and I got a full set of the Vintage Bliss Collection. I am just in love with this paper line. The colors are what I like to call bright pastels and Petaloo's Penny Lane collection could not be a more perfect Match!

Super easy to make- Just cut out 3 Bingo Cards from- you guessed it- Bingo Cards #3016. Hot Glue some of your Petaloo Shades of Beige trim to the bottom, and punch some side holes.

Then grab you Vintage Bliss Chipboard Stickers a shown above- hot glue them to a piece of pre cut foam board or use foam squares

Add your Petaloo Flowers- I used Ruffled Roses and Forget Me Nots in Soft Pink, Teal and Antique Gold.

I also added a Darjeeling Beaded Hat pin to each- if you use foam core-it makes a great base to stick these in to.

I call this project, a smile maker. You just hang it on someones door and make them smile. The hanger is what's called a linen hanger- special for drapes- but you can bed your own shape out of a regular hanger. Wrap in tulle, and add your embellishments.

I used Colorbox Pigment ink in Pewter on the doily- greys go lovely with this line of paper

To add a touch od sparkle- I dabbed my finger in white glue and touched the tips of the flowers- then sprinkled some Fairy Dust in Pralines and cream

My last project features my lovely daughter Marilyn. She came and helped me at a jewelry class one day when I snapped this pic. This is a great way to incorporate Mixed Media techniques with traditional scrapbooking supplies.

This is a 5x5x1.5 Canvas. I started with a pink and white acrylic paint on the base-then used a piece of torn Vintage Bliss Notebook #3020 for the background. I then used a Craft Attitude transfer to print my Instagram on, then used my Xyron Creative Station 5 Inch to adhere it onto the canvas

I used some of Petaloos Assorted Trims in Shades of Beige- I also used some Vintage Bliss stickers- and a fine tip sharpie helps your stickers stand out.

Easter Truffle Box

Easter is right around the corner and I came across instructions for the cutest truffle box and I knew that I had to make it and dress it up with Petaloo.

Isn't this just too sweet?!  I really do love the new line of delish Petaloo products.  I kind of went a bit crazy adding a little bit of this and a little bit of that.  I couldn't help myself.  :)

Y'all know what a sucker I am for lace and trim, right?  Well, did you know that Petaloo now has a gorgeous line of trims?  Woo Hoo!!!  I love the little snow ball tassles and how it really just makes this box entirely too sweet. 

I decided to make a small cluster using my favorite Petaloo flowers lines; the new tea stained Darjeeling and the Textured Collection.  I embellished my flowers using some Petaloo Hat Pins as well as using a brad button from Petaloo.  LOVE 'EM!!!!!

March Guest Designer, Denise Hahn

Please welcome Denise Hahn from Graphic 45 as our Guest Designer for March.  We are so excited to share with you what Denise has created.  You are going to love her as much as we do!

We asked Denise to share a little about herself and this is what she said:

My name is Denise Hahn and I am a mixed media artist and crafter from Long Beach California. I have always loved creating and I get my creativity from my Mom and Grandmother. They always had elaborately decorated packages under the Christmas tree along with handmade decorations. They also sewed amazing Halloween costumes for us. I was always in awe of what they could create and soon started joining them. But somehow I lost sight of creating and for many years let it slip away. Then I was introduced to scrapbooking from a friend and I have never looked back. I consider myself a crafter of all trades; I do paper crafting, mixed media, altered art, and jewelry. But I am always looking to learn new things. My work has been featured in Jewelry Affaire and Somerset publications, and Romantic Homes. I live in Long Beach, Ca with my husband and our two lovable pit bulls Juno and Pipi. When I am not crafting I Play roller derby for the Orange County Roller Girls (my Derby name is Crafty of course!), and skiing in Colorado. 

Hello everyone, so happy to be here on the Petaloo blog! As a designer for Graphic 45 there is no better compliment to their papers than amazing Petaloo flowers.

Today I have created a "Picture Frame" using an IKEA mirror. I started with a vintage image, but this would look great with family photos too. The image was transferred using Craft Attitude transfer film, Xyron adhesive and my inkjet printer.

I also gave a light dusting of Smooch Spritz to add a touch of silvery sparkle to the flowers.

The gorgeous Petaloo flowers I used were adhered with hot glue. Here is a great tip! When using the Petaloo Beaded headpins, put a small square of .25 inch foam core behind your flower, that makes a great base to stick your pins in.

Inking to add more color.

Our NEW Printed Darjeelings come in so many different colors; you just can't have one.  It's like a bag of potato chips without the salt and calories...LOL!

I didn't have the right color flowers for my project so I used ink to give my flowers the extra color I wanted.  The texture on the darjeelings makes it easy to ink so try inking yours to change the color like I did here in this picture.

You can also ink up the butterfiles in Printed Darjeeling collection.

These are what the flowers look like before I inked and glittered them.

These are beautiful just as they are, but when you add another color it changes the look and gives it that extra something special.

Here's a close up so you can see how the flowers are spread out.  I also used Graphic 45's A Place In Time which I found perfect with the Printed Darjeeling collection.
