I'm not big on New Year's Resolutions....
but have gotten into the habbit of choosing
a "Word for the Year"!
This year I decided to create a little something
to hang on my wall to remind me
of the word I chose.....INITIATE!
I began with a burlap canvas that covered with various
mediums....Crackle Paint and Gesso.
I then pulled out my box of Petalaoo Goodness...
and began to choose some flowers to match.
I began the flower grouping with some of my favorite flowers:
Darjeeling Daisies
(I just love ALL THE Darjeeling flowers...PERIOD!!)
Added a few Mini Daisies
and
Mini Pearl Daisies
A bit of Silk Acrylic Glaze ~ Emperor's Gold
and it all began to come together.
Lastly, I pulled out some Chantilly Velvet Leaves
which I pinched and stapled at the
bottom of the leaf, slopped on a bit of
the same Silk Acrylic Glaze,
I chose to use the leaves with
the non~velvet side up!
And there you have it!!
in·i·ti·ate /iˈniSHēˌāt/
Verb: Cause (a process or action) to begin
Synonyms: start - begin - commence - institute - open - lead off
Daisies Large ~ Shabby Beige and Grey/Black
Medium Mix ~ Black/Cream/Brown
Mini Daisies ~ Nightfall

I guess for this year my word will be believe, in myself, in others and that things will change for the better! Love the inspiration great idea to make a canvass or wall hanging to remind yourself! Going to do it! Thanks for a great idea! :)

Rejuvenate is my word for the year. I am working hard to carve out time to rejuvenate after spending four days a week with my 3 grand children (twins 2.5 and their sister age 15 mo.)

Beautiful. I am inspired! My word for the year is "Gratitude". I am grateful for so many things - my family and friends and doctors and medicine (I am finally able to move without pain most of the time). And to the good Lord for my Creativity and ability to make Art.

Beautiful Lynne! Love those flowers and that gold glaze is just yummy! My word for the year is "Hope". I chose that word at a certain little crafty get-together for a chunky ATC, and it just stuck.
