It's back to school time, so today I have projects to share with you that you can give to a highschool or college student perhaps. After all they need a little boost about getting back into school, too, right?  With all the pretty color card stock from Core'dinations and the coordinating Petaloo Color Match Series flowers I was bound to make something feminine.  I altered a note book, and made a goodie bag in the shape of a little backpack.  You can put some candy, lip balm, gift card, or special note for that special student.

Core'dinations papers are perfect for embossing and sanding, so both my projects have a little bit or a lot of that.  For my notebook cover I adhered the pink card stock to the front, and painted it partially in with some Gesso and covered it in with Pan Pastels.  I die cut a few beatiful Cameo cutting files and used them as a stencil to create a little more textured interes on the front and I ended up using the die cut as part of my decoration as well, which went perfect with my pretty Petaloo Color Match Series flowers.  I also used a butterfly stencil by Creative Imaginations with the Pan Pastels.  It is very subtle, but I think it turned out quite pretty.  I just love how altering the pink paper turned out.  The pretty doily and the word "note" were also cut out with my Cameo and I added letter stickers to create the word "take".  The final touch of course was adding the gorgeous flowers, which completed my note book. And let me just share about the spine of the note book.  I embossed my brown Core'dinations cardstock, sanded it off and added some Pan Pastel to it.  You can do so much with the Core'dinations papers, as you can see.

 My second project is a the little backpack bag.  You can find the pattern for it at Splitcoaststampers.  Just want to give a shout out to them, in case you would like to recreate something like this.  I basically cut out the template using the pretty Core'dinations papers, than embossed it and sanded it off.  I love this flower background embossing folder, as it really made my project girlie.  Once I put it together I decorated it with all the pretty Petaloo Color Match Series flowers.  It's like icing on the cake.  I also added some letter stickers to it and pretended that this is my very own little backpack....LOL

 Here is a picture of my backpack from the side.  As you can see it really looks like a backpack.

It's been an awesome week so far and the team up we have is super duper fun!  Alice here, with a card I made using Core'dinations yummy colorful cardstock, Sweet Stamp Shop stamps and of course, Petaloo gorgeous flowers!

Hi Everyone!!  I had a lot of fun coming up with a few pieces of altered art for school for my daughter. 

Here is a bulletin board for her locker.

This was really simple to make.  I took an unfinished picture frame and distressed it.  Then I embossed some Coordinations Cardstock to create an inner frame. 

I added some Petaloo Mulberry Flowers - New Camilia in Pink and accented with a few small Pansy Purple flowers.  I also added some Petaloo chipboard clouds and a string of pearls to give it some whimsy. 

A few strategically placed magnets on the back and my daughter can hang this inside her locker and post pictures of friends or post it notes for reminders.

 

This is a small box I made for her to place loooooove notes in!  *kissy noises*  LOL  She is going into 5th grade and while I'm still trying to get a grip on that, I am finding that boys are already calling!!!  Really???!!!!  Aren't they a bit too young?  LOL  Anywho, I thought she might want a place to keep these cherished little tokens of love. :)

The Coordinations paper kind of looks a bit weathered and I LOVE IT!  I sanded, ripped and inked and it gives this box a beautiful inlaid finish. 

I embellished the box with some ribbon and New Camilia Pink flowers and Red Cardinal Assorted Minis.  My cute little "note" at the top was created using a stamp from the Sweet Stamp Shop and it is from their Packaged Pretty collection.

I miss the days of gradeschool.....
the excitement of a new school year.
I had so much fun creating this gift bag for that "special" teacher
(I may just have to give a RAK to a teacher
at my local elementary school!!)


 
I used a white lunch bag,
folded down the top,
wrapped the bag with a layer of patterned paper
and Coredinations Cardstock.
I punched the edges to add a bit of flare.



I mounted a piece of patterned paper
on a coordinating piece Coredinations Cardstock.

So is everyone ready for school to begin?  My kids have already started back and love their teachers and their classmates.  It seems as if we will have a very good year.  When I taught school the first couple weeks were filled with making things for my classroom.  Bulletin boards, centers, and charts always need to be created.  So when I was thinking about a project for this blog hop I decided I wanted to create something for a classroom.

To make everyone feel welcome in the classroom I came up with an idea for this sign.  I used my Cameo and a SVGCuts file to create the sign itself and the cute little school themed die cuts.  The paper that I used is all from Core'dinations.  I love their paper.  The colors are stunning and it, of course, coordinates perfectly with the Flora Doodles line from Petaloo.  I embellished the sign with Petaloo flowers, glitter paper and twine.  Here is a close up of the right side of the sign.  The red and green glitter paper on the apple is mulberry glitter paper from Petaloo.  It cuts so smoothly in my Cameo.  

Here is a closeup of the left side of the sign.  I had some fun with twine from May Arts to create the center of the flower at the top.  More Petaloo flowers on this side too.  Love that everything matches perfectly.

Then because every student loves to tell their teacher they are the best I created this card with a detachable award pin on it.  The award pin was cut using a cut file by Lori Whitlock on my Silhouette Cameo.  I used red glitter paper from Core'dinations.  It's really thick which made the pin sturdy.  Then I stamped the sentiment on the middle circle using some fun clear stamps from Sweet Stamp Shop.  The set is called School's Out and it has all kinds of words so that you could make these award pins for everyone at school.  Librarians, Bus Drivers, Principal, and the list goes on.  I also used the apple image border to create the background paper for my card.  I wanted it to be subtle so that the award pin was the focal point.  Since the stamps were clear it was so easy to line it up row after row.

I added a Petaloo flower to the award pin and it was all ready to go.  Tip:  To attach the pin to the card, punch two small round holes with a 1/8th inch hole punch in the middle of your card and slide the pin through the two holes.  Go through all layers so that the pin can be unclipped from the inside of the card.

Already fourth grade

My son is growing so fast! This fall he starts fourth grade, and I can't believe he is this big! School has just started and to remember my big boys schoolstart this year, I created this page using Petaloos Core'dinations flowers, beautiful flowers in lots of beautiful colors. Yellow and green is a lovely color combination, and here you can spot Mini Floral in Tulip Yellow and Camelias in Tulip Yellow and Mantis Green. The Berry Spray in Green went perfect with these amazing flowers.

These flowers, since they are in different sizes, are perfect for layering and making beautiful clusters.

Altered Notebook (Back To School)

Hello Petaloo fans! Have you all started creating those cute "Back To School" projects yet? Today, I'm sharing a simple altered notebook which I've created using the old "Learning Curve" line by Bo Bunny with some gorgeous Petaloo flowers!

The beautiful and vibrant Tangerine flowers by Petaloo adds a punch of colors to the altered notebook and makes it look fun! Try it!

Wearable art

One day before leaving for our summer destination the little princess wants new clothes.

Of course.. she is female. Don't we all feel the need to go shopping especially with special occasions in sight. I myself feel the need for "special stuff".. not something I know 20 other women will wear. So I wanted to create something special for her. I  saw these beautiful flowers, the pearls, the bling and the butterflies and I knew I had to make her a headband and matching decoration on her summer shirt. I got out my glue gun and in a heartbeat I created the most awesome wearable art no one else has.

I hope this will inspire you to create something for yourself or your loved ones and look smashing in something no one else has.

Take time to smell the flowers

I love this quote.. and I love flowers. I took this photo of Noah last year during a walk in Bavaria, Germany. We visited Grandma and nature was so different. There were mountains and the houses were very different with tons of flowers hanging from the windows.

 

It was hard to get Noah to keep walking. He loved to stop and smell the flowers. And I couldn't help to stop and take pictures.

I love the color me crazy flowers. They are great fun and fantastic for a customn made project. I love playing with paint, spritzers stamps and glitters so I had a blast playing along with this.

I used a basic white cardstock sheet and simply put the flat flowers first.

Stamped them, then layered more dimensional flowers.
I added the titel and stamped text on it.
THen I pulled out spray paint and mist and glitters and had fun in multiple layers.
